  1. Good point. At the moment I have it listed under, ?Dicking about experience?.
  2. Bummer man. Hope you recover quickly. I cut through that park at night all the time.
  3. Having reread that last paragraph I?m thinking of giving career advice of perhaps becoming a motivational speaker.

I don?t know so much. I?m all for competitiveness in schools and in fact I think there isn?t enough of it in the uk. I?m convinced that the fact that our schooling involved spending at least 50% of our time trying to beat the shit out of each other is why we South Africans are so much better at everything.* But the right to attend a decent school in the first place should be fundamental and any pressure should be carried by the parents. Kids shouldn?t have that stress in their lives. I?m not criticising anyone here. The system is as it is at the moment and we all just have to do what we think is best. I don?t for a minute suggest that I?m going to take some pious, ideological position when it comes to the education of my children. I just remember back to my school days and how seriously some kids took things like exams and achievement. To the point that I knew some who became ill and even landed up in therapy. A fiend of mine used to pull his hair out in his sleep due to stress at 16 years old. Surely it would only be worse if they had to compete for the privilege of just being taught. Although I?m perhaps being a bit hypocritical as I wrote an entrance exam to get into my high school. I didn?t care much about it at the time. If I didn?t get in I would have just gone to the school down the road which was pretty much as good and cheaper for my folks. I got in, dicked about for a few years and ended up in university at the end of it where I dicked about some more then ended up in an office for further dicking about. *Before anyone jumps down my throat this is what is known as ribbing.
  5. I am offended by your insinuations. I have nothing against Camberwell. Some of my best friends have been to Camberwell.
  6. Well the thing with the Villager is that it is quite clearly not in the Village. It?s slap bang in the middle of the Village?s pretentious upstart of a neighbour with ideas above its station. People will just think it?s naff.
  7. Why can't it be called the 'urt?
  8. Not to mention mentally and emotionally detrimental for the children.
  9. Vote Conservative! (tu)
  10. But competition is good! This is just the beginning. In ten years time elderly people will have to run a 100 yard dash to see which of them gets to have their bunions treated.
  11. If it is going to change name surely the obviously choices are the North Cross Tavern or the Uplands Road Tavern. That way we will have another TLA to go with the CPT, EDT and FHT. I think NCT works better than URT.
  12. North London is just a made up story like elves, unicorns and eskimos.

  14. I once cancelled the milk. The consequence was that after about a day I didn?t have any more milk. Milk is thing. France is a thing. So if you cancel France you will no longer have any France. It may take a few years for it to run out though as France is a bit bigger than a bottle of milk.
  15. Yeah the Third Reich had good architecture, rigorous education, arts patronage and impressive clothing doesn?t mean it should have been allowed.
  16. We could start by disallowing somewhere inconsequential like Australia perhaps. See how that goes and if it works out move up to somewhere like Thamesmead.
  17. Do that many people really want Camberwell though?
  18. But it still shouldn't be allowed.
  19. Nope. I can?t see how it could be enforced. Forcing entry into every home in the country to check if they have a dog? Unless they could prove that it would eliminate the problem of strays and will be cheaper to the tax payer than the current cost of dealing with the problem. I doubt that they could do either of those.
  20. Yeah but the spear is fired by a sling contraction. You can for instance lay siege to Baghdad with catapults even though what you are actually launching from the catapults is rocks, pieces of masonry or the occasional fellow on a heroic mission who has a knack for landing in haystacks conveniently positioned on the other side of the city walls and upsetting chickens.

    The Pound

Isn?t it quite common for a country?s currency to drop in value before an election, especially a hotly contested one?
  22. Well it is kinda how spear fishing works. Anyway what is it with philosophers? If they aren?t killing cats in boxes they?re shooting fish in barrels. Didn?t one of them also do something unsavoury to a tortoise?
  23. Bows and arrows? Slings? Catapults?
  24. I?m not surprised. Didn?t their wives force them to go live in the market place in barrels? Were they by any chance shooting fish when they came up with this question?
  25. I don't understand the question. What about women?
