  1. Good selection of beer at Hoopers if I recall correctly.
  2. I also love cooking. I find it really relaxing and fun. It?s a little bit of me time where I get to be creative, think up novel things to do with chillies and play with knives. I fucking hate washing up though. Like M? Man I don?t think I know anyone who can?t cook at all. Even my father-in-law, who comes from one of those traditional Irish families where the men don?t even know where the stove is, has managed to master such complex concepts as, potatoes + hot oil = chips.
  3. When last was the Gowlett done?

You sound like a teacher speaking to a parent about their rebellious teenager. Sorry I missed all you guys again! Although I think I'm heading out in ED tonight so chances are I'll run into some of you in the various iniquitous establishments that populate our little corner of this wicked city.
  5. I've checked this out now and I'm a Gemini - Fire - Snake. So a two-faced, flaming snake then.
  6. I?ve often thought that if civilization collapses, unless you?re a farmer, engineer, builder, nurse or doctor you are a bit surplus to requirements. All that there will be for the rest of us to do is fight over resources. So unless you can design a waterborne sewage system of fix a gammy leg you best get yourself big stick (preferably one with a nail in it).
  7. Addressing envelopes to people who live outside London. Any self-respecting London address only needs 2 lines. But if you live in some big bloody house in the country everyone has to know about it when they write to you at, Snatch Baron Farm House Snatch Baron Farm Tenfriggers Lane Off Spatchcock Avenue Wiggles Bottom Near Dimpleley Dickleson-Willyford East Humbria Blah blah blah blah Etc

Now you're just making things up. That sounds like a crossover involving and '80s lawyer show and Star Trek.
  10. I like the way there seem to be about 3 different conversations going on, on this thread at the same time.
  11. The ideas behind my suggestions were more about building character, competence and respect for self and others. Not about building little people to fit into the socio political environment we deem appropriate at the moment. Ideologies, conformist or non, be dammed! They have no place in education. If children are given a good strong character and robust abilities they will be able to build a world that works for them.
  12. Am I being incorrect in pointing out that people seem to say try and when what they should be saying is try to? As in, ?We are going to try and get to the station on time.? Surely trying implies an attempt not a certainty. So if you aren?t certain of the outcome you are going to ??try to get to the station on time.? If you are certain of the outcome you are just, ?...going to get to the station on time.?

  14. Anna. Breath. Count to ten. It's friday. And the last time I checked France is still producing champagne despite the best attempts of the financial sector to start the apocalypse.

What is a "fixer" woman when she's at home?
  17. If you haven't got out of bed yet you're allowed to start as early as you want.

I would thank you to stop discriminating against men who are insecure about their masculinity.
  19. Wikipedia has this to say about it: ?A yard is a spar on a mast from which sails are set? Yardarms [are] the outermost tips of the yard? The actual time that the sun would pass a particular yard would depend greatly on the ship's latitude and heading, as well as the height of her masts, but the phrase seems to have originated in the north Atlantic, where, in summer, this would have typically been at about 11 a.m..? So I have about 35 minutes.
  20. Thank god Africa isn't going anywhere and AKs are pretty easy to come by there.

What is this world coming to if I man can?t wear tights and still hold his head proud? Freddy Mercury was Zoroastran a religion that while being non Abrahamic has a similar idea of judgment and heaven to Christianity.
  22. We ate there 2 weekends ago. Standard Chinese and very enjoyable. Duck wrapped in those pancake things, a stained shirt from a freak, rice wine/chops sticks related accident, that sort of thing. I seem to remember it being quite reasonably priced. Fantastically naff d?cor too. Like Mr Miyagi?s house in The Karate Kid. Edit: Because I can?t fucking spell ok! Just deal with it!

This was why my dreadful > "invention" was referred to as a "Jack Daniels > Manhattan" rather than just a Manhattan >:D< Actually though Simon, not wanting to rely too much on something I heard in the pub, after I posted that I thought I would go and check it up and apparently I wasn?t 100% correct. Whiskeys produced outside of Kentucky (but still inside the USA) can actually call themselves bourbon as long as they are produced in a certain way. Most of them don?t though out of tradition. Now I feel like a Jack Daniels. It?s only 9:15 :-S
  24. How do you find out what Chinese sign you are? I remeber someone once telling me I was a snake but I can't remember if we were talking astrology or I was being accused of round dodging.
  25. Oh christ have mercy. Not another thread on homophobia.
