  1. What's wrong with just, say, going on holiday to Australia?
  2. heh heh heh "cockacidal maniac" heh heh heh
  3. (tu)
  4. I hope you have complained DG. Did you get the bus number? There is no excuse for this kind of behaviour from bus drivers. Where does the filthy coward get off anyway picking on a woman on her own? (6) Proabaly made him feel really good about himself no doubt.
  5. They are having a laugh. 99% of the time on the bus from the library to Denmark Hill the driver will jerk the bus around and drive too fast etc. So you start to think that maybe it is unavoidable and that these busses can?t be driven smoothly. Then 1% of the time you get a driver who actually drives down the road sensibly and without trying to break pensioners? hips and you realise that the rest of them are just surly, aggressive wankers. I would really like to be magnanimous and see their side of this but unfortunately I?ve reached the point where I have given up and just written them off as bastards who endanger the safety of their passengers and other road users.
  6. The Gherkin.
  7. Catching the P13 from Streatham to East Dulwich in the evening is the most impractical, time consuming business ever. You may as well just stay in Streatham and wait for gentrification to occur.
  8. I?m an idiot. Get me on television.
  9. When it comes to any beer but especially larger I like it cold, cold, cold. Larger can literally be on the brink of freezing. Ales and stout not quite as cold but still cold. The extra cold larger you get in pubs never seems to actually be that cold though. But then I did grow up in Africa where the very mention of warm beer would get you drawn, quartered, skinned, salted and hung out to dry for a week. Then fed to a passing elephant. Or thrown to the sharks. Or put on a plane and packed off to Wimbledon. Or any number of other unpleasant clich?s.
  10. Doubt it Jah as I have checked the Guinness website and the only places that seem to be doing it are O'Neils. Being a happily engaged man I have no inclination to sleep with any australians and I can't really think of any other valid reason for going to an O'Neils.
  11. Either Tuesday or Thursday are good for me. (we're looking at the 26th or the 29th aren't we?)
  12. If x is the cost production and y is the overheads of the pub then z is me not taking any notice whatsoever of what is in the fridges while I order a pint of Guinness.
  13. Me! Me! Me!
  14. *Pops head around door.* ?Do I smell liver and onions??
  15. Surely you can?t separate the needs of the punter and those of the landlord? Symbiotic relationship innit?
  16. Is it served cold? I must admit I am curious if just to see what it tastes like. When they started serving Guinness a few degrees colder it was, in my opinion, the final piece to the puzzle producing the pleasure of a perfectly, potable, pint of porter. Asinine, alliteration aside though. How can they improve on perfection?
  17. ?Guinness Red, brewed in exactly the same way as Guinness except that the barley is only lightly roasted so that it produces a lighter, slightly fruitier red ale, began test-marketing in Great Britain in February 2007 ? 4.2% abv.? Anyone tried it yet? Any reports?
  18. I don't think you can box up the concept of the British Empire and lay blame and/or praise on it. It is something that stretches back to the 1500s (or the Norman invasion of Ireland depending on how you want to look at it) and it still exists to some extent today. A lot of good constructive things were done over the centuries and in general it was/still is sensible policy to have mutually beneficial arrangements between the crown and its colonies. But a lot of down right, foul, evil was committed as well especially in situations where the military?s authority was questioned.
  19. Well all part of my argument really. If they buy me lots of stuff I will be distracted for most of the day and they won?t have to put up with me.
  20. Well if ?Britain? includes any territories which were subject to the crown as part of the empire at any given time. (Which it does no matter how isolate some parts of Britain like to pretend they are) Then a whole lot of genocide and ethic cleansing has gone on. Much of it quite recently. The empire itself wasn?t always to blame but sometimes it was. But that is neither here nor there for this discussion.
  21. In my experience roasts in pubs are always disappointing. I have generally found the food in the Plough to be ok. Nothing special but just the usual pub fare that one has come to expect. It is certainly no worse than and just as much of a rip-off as the other pubs on Lordship Lane or in London generally.
  22. That was like, sarcastic you know. Probably the only reasonable response to some of the complete claptrap on this thread.
  23. Well the best way would be to stop poor people from having access to education so that they cannot earn enough money to gentrify areas.
  24. I feel very strongly that there should not be a limit to the amount that people can spend on me at Christmas.
  25. >:D
