  1. It's fairly obvious, he wants the council to actually listen to their own constituents and to accept some decisions that they have made have been poor and should be corrected. It's equally obvious that you want to defend this council from any possible criticism, no matter how legitimate, and that you want to silence anyone with a different point of view to you on car ownership / use.
  2. Because these bollards are placed so far into the road with the extended pavements, some (perfectly legal) vehicles can’t drive around them without driving on the wrong side of the road. i guess that is also outrageously dangerous driving.
  3. "to be fair Labour councils tend NEVER to take any accountability for their actions when things don't go well" To be fair this doesn't stop at Labour councillor level. The current Labour Deputy Prime Minister and Housing Minister is refusing to resign despite having underpaid a house purchase tax bill by £40,000. She's blaming her advisers instead of taking accountability for her own liabilities. The Labour Prime Minister is also fully supportive of her because she used to be working class. This attitude goes right to the top.
  4. Starmer was in the news today saying he flies a St. George's flag in his flat in Downing Street. Make of that what you will. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/keir-starmer-is-downing-streets-david-brent/ "Whenever Starmer tries to appear normal, he ends up sounding like a mixture of David Brent and the acid bath murderer. As he was asked about the proliferation of flags across the country, there came some absolutely classic examples of the genre. ‘I’m a supporter of flags’, he began. ‘I always sit in front of the Union Jack’, he insisted. Always? I can just imagine a flunky following the PM around – to his local, on trains, as he goes to the lavatory, just to ensure he is always in the presence of a Union Jack. Determined to make things even weirder, Starmer informed Chorley that he had a St George’s Flag up in his flat, as if he was trying to entice him upstairs in order to kill and eat him."
  5. How much of the, no doubt enormous, cost of this almighty fuck up is going to be passed on to residents through egregious rises in council and property taxes?
  6. Perhaps the poor driver was distracted by that rather phallic hedge in the background.
  7. They're probably feeding rats, mice and squirrels as much as anything. All of those will move into a warm home with a reliable food source if they aren't careful.
  8. I know people who leave food out for foxes in their gardens. One near North Cross Road, one in Streatham. No doubt there are many more in between. The ones I know can't be persuaded that it is very antisocial to feed foxes.
  9. I like Truepennys
  10. The Nags Head and the Wilton Arms, both on Kinnerton Street were quite off the beaten track back street pubs. Easier to find all these places with Google maps now!
  11. You're taking everything on this thread personally DKHB.
  12. If it is a camper van that could explain it moving around and being hard to locate.
  13. I wouldn't go across Sydenham Hill to get to Crystal Palace unless I was in a car.
  14. It is most of them though. Time to ban dogs altogether. Not just for the antisocial behavior, but also because they are an environmental disaster. They cause a huge amount of unnecessary C02 emissions and the amount of food they consume when we have humans suffering famine in places like Gaza, Sudan and Yemen is quite unethical.
  15. This scheme isn't there for the benefit of cyclists. It's designed solely to impede motor traffic. No one cycles up there because there are massive hills on all sides and there is nothing there worth cycling to.
  16. Congratulations. Best of luck for the future.
  17. Time travel discovered by LFB?
  18. If they couldn't get out of the lease and couldn't make a profit running a pub there and weren't allowed to sublet then paying the rent on empty premises might have been their cheapest option.
  19. It's very nice. Schools are all quite good.
  20. Community service cleaning it up for those that are caught too.
  21. I've seen grass for sale but suspect that's not helpful to the OP.
  22. Some people don't like dogs, or dog kennels. I don't.
  23. The minimum wage hikes on top of the NICs increases have also caused vast swathes of unemployment.
  24. I had to get Stratford yesterday and my sat nav took me south first then up Underhill Rd and across Newlands Brockley and through New Cross rather than the usual route up East Dulwich Rd and Nunhead etc.
