I have no intention of voting Tory or Labour at the election in May. Both parties are equally as bad as each other. From the interview on LBC in the week, I understand some anti LTN candidates will stand in Village Ward in an attempt to kick Labour out of the ward using protest votes. There was a mention of people also standing in other Dulwich wards affected by the LTN, although I can't see one winning in Dulwich Wood for example where it only affects a tiny part of the ward however frustrating it is to have Labour Cllrs pushing through the Dulwich LTNs.

To Loki286, I don't think there's one single person in ED who blames the posties for one minute for how inept the Royal Mail are management wise. You guys and girls are simply doing your jobs the best you can under extreme circumstances which has got worse under privatisation.

I believe Peckham was chosen because Alleyn Road DO doesn't have the capacity to handle ED post as well as SE21. For all the environmental chatter on here, there hasn't been much complaining from the cycling crew about the fact that since Sylvester Road closed, deliveries which were all able to be done on foot has had to be done by postal workers using vans, some that do specific routes to the furthest ends of the postcode, while others have staff dropped off to do their walking rounds because for example to walk up to the Forest Hill end of Lordship Lane would take around an hour to walk from Homestall Road before they'd start.

ULEZ has worked so well that when I walk down LL from the Library up to the Grove, I've smelt fumes from the standing traffic in the peak. Ironically the evening peak today wasn't so bad because of the no right turn into Dulwich Common from LL. Maybe that would have been a more sensible idea to reduce traffic in ED that what we got instead?

It's easy to spot a pro LTN person on EDF. -

I refused to vote for Labour in 2019 because of Corbyn although Helen Hayes is on the whole a reasonable person that I've dealt with in person over years. (She was my local Cllr before becoming an MP), but the way Labour have railroaded over residents and local business owners over these schemes that benefit the few over the many. Luckily I'm not represented by Leeming, but I hope Labour will finally listen after May's election. -
Lead story on BBC London tonight.

Two Dulwich Village Cllrs along with other Labour Cllrs in other Dulwich wards supported pushing through a LTN scheme that wasn't supported by the vast majority of residents, yet the attitude of one particular Village Ward Cllr has stunk since the start and now to pass the buck is a typical politicians response when they're in power. -

Why doesn't it surprise me that one of the pro-LTN councillors is passing the buck to Thames Water instead of proactively re-opening Court Lane for the duration of the works? -
Had post today, but the Royal Mail have managed to lose one of my tracked parcels which they've claimed to have delivered.

Email from Royal Mail this morning. We're sorry to advise that you may experience further disruption to deliveries in parts of the SE22 postcode area due to resourcing issues at the East Dulwich Delivery Office. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding. We'll be back in touch to let you know when resourcing issues have improved.

This is what you get when a party has too much power with the opposition having so little pressure for the administration to change their mind. The Berlin Wall is of course an exaggeration, but the point is that the LTN continues to benefit those with more money and affluent housing than those who live on the border like me where social housing has been built. That's why I consider it to be a method of dividing people into those who benefit from quieter roads and the rest of us with little money who have to put up with added pollution and traffic. It shouldn't come as a surprise though. Over 30 years ago, the P4 bus used to run along Court Lane and the posh residents stuck their nose up, so the council installed road humps, so the once useful bus which was a nice short cut from the Village to LL had to run along Dulwich Village and Dulwich Common instead, alas it's been stuck in traffic ever since.

Abusive people in Dulwich Park just now
Bic Basher replied to Angelina's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The person is still 17. Teenagers mature at different stages, but NOBODY should have to put up with that type of abuse, if they're 17, 32 or 80. Some people on this forum need to understand that the world has moved on from the "get on with it" mentality that we used to have in the supposed better days of the past. -
It's not just here were sorting offices that serve two postcodes have had a dire service. Forest Hill and Sydenham have had the same issues as us. Covid outbreak in the sorting office and the postal service goes out the window, prioritising Covid tests while leaving general mail stuck in the sorting office or at Croydon Mail Centre. In general, the issues with post are generally affecting those sorting offices that serve two postcodes.

The P4 only runs every 20 minutes during early mornings before the traffic starts It otherwise runs every 12-15 minutes. Maybe because you're in your LTN enclave that you don't see the disruption it causes to people like me who happen to live in social housing affected by Southwark's answer to the Berlin Wall?

To add to my previous post, it was a mix of post from December including Christmas cards, plus post sent this week. The fact they're using other staff here today shows they're at least trying, but clearly the privatised Royal Mail who sold off our sorting office and then shifted everyone to Peckham still isn't working.
-
Finally got a backlog of post today delivered by another postal worker who isn't the usual one.

I'd debate that residents in SE22 who live near to Forest Hill or Honor Oak Park station have the closest to a decent public transport service because they have tube like frequencies of trains, but it's still nowhere like north of the river where they have a frequent tube service covering most areas. The bus service is nowhere as good because of other factors, the 20mph speed limit in Southwark first of all slowed bus journeys down and because the LTN now sends traffic that used to use Court Lane onto Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Grove and Dulwich Common, they get stuck in extra traffic jams. It's common to wait over 20 minutes for a P4 to Lewisham in Dulwich Common because the bus gets stuck in the jam which was already bad before the LTN, but is even worse now. While Dulwich has three rail stations, there are residents who also use Denmark Hill and Forest Hill who rely on buses to get there. With buses being slowed down thanks to Southwark's hair brained traffic calming schemes, it's much harder than before to reach those two stations. (Peckham Rye and HOP are also used, but not directly affected by the Dulwich LTN).

Just received an email from the Royal Mail. We're pleased to confirm, the resourcing issues reported at the East Dulwich Delivery Office have improved, and services are now recovering. We?re sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding. Kind regards, Royal Mail Customer Services

Christmas Private Eye arrived today, but not the current issue. Letter from Southwark Council dated 4th Jan, bank statements, but no Christmas cards or packages sent before Christmas.

I've had no post since Thursday and no sign of a postal worker either.
-
TfL have their own app now called TfL Go which has live bus times.
-
Some delayed post arrived on Tuesday, but no Christmas Private Eye or Christmas cards. I got my lateral flow tests today, so clearly they're still prioritising those over other post.
-
Quite a few changed on LL too. Grove Tavern northbound, Overhill Road northbound, Dulwich Library northbound and Dulwich The Plough northbound and North Cross Road southbound before Christmas.
