Lordship Lane Estate: Stop the tower block petition
Bic Basher replied to oliviassmith's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Considering I live here and actually read the proposals. There is nothing to suggest that it isn't social housing being built with priority given to existing Estate residents who are in need of new accommodation. -

No I'm not a patient there, but used to be in their catchment area when it covered more of SE22.

Dental hygienist in and around SE22 (under ?85) - anyone?
Bic Basher replied to Nigello's topic in The Lounge
I don't use a hygienist in ED, but I pay ?45 at Bolney Court Dental Surgery in Lawrie Park Road, Sydenham. -
Cabinet 34 appears to be a small box on Bawdale Road with the junction of Lordship Lane next to Franklins.
-
This website tells you which streets are covered by cabinet 34, which are between North Cross Road and Whateley Road. https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm?xid=919775&postcodeloc=11650&cabinet=P34e
-
Google Maps is another way of finding out your cabinet. 12 is outside the former Lloyds Bank in Lordship Lane.
-
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/ is the website to go to find out which cabinet you're on. For example, I'm on cabinet 38 which is on Lordship Lane opposite Melford Road.

So that's why at 2.30pm there was a queue from the Dulwich Common junction of LL to just past Friern Road.

Lordship Lane Estate: Stop the tower block petition
Bic Basher replied to oliviassmith's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I wonder how many middle class people would complain if they had a six story block blocking their view from their ?500k house? Why is no different for council tenants who are basically told to put up and shut up by people who don't need social housing in the first place? A council estate development shouldn't be no different to objections to those who earn a lot more than some of ED's poorest. -
Worth noting that Tessa Jowell has reduced their patient coverage area which covers more of South Camberwell than ED. https://www.tessajowellgpsurgery.co.uk/patient-info/practice-boundary/

It was 12 for walk ins on the day I > tried with about a 20 minute wait. Was that upstairs where the surgery is or at the Day Lewis Pharmacy downstairs? My mother is having her booster at Tessa Jowell upstairs next week through the GP.

The closest to a "one party dictatorship" is in Lewisham where there is no opposition to Labour because last time round people all voted for them instead of the Lib Dems or Tories as a protest vote. However there's an election next May where it could be very different in both Southwark and Lewisham where controversial LTN schemes have been railroaded...er introduced where it could change power in both boroughs. It is fair to say however that this current Labour administration have been the most forceful in introducing schemes that go against the will of local residents or taking on board what the opposition Lib Dems have asked for with regards to the LTN consultation for Dulwich Village.

FabJP Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Housing is needed. Council housing is needed. hope > it gets built Housing is needed, but it also needs to reflect the area it's in. Southwark under this current administration have continually attempted to dump on residents of the Lordship Lane Estate, first of all with their dire LTN scheme which has increased pollution on the estate with the added traffic along Lordship Lane and then changed their mind over a three story block which I was in favour of for a six story block which is a blot on the landscape. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the council are basically saying to residents that we tell you what's going to happen rather than consult with residents properly over both schemes. -
Moovart Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Also difficult to get planning permission for a > higher building than those adjacent. > > Lordship lane estate already has 6 storey blocks The rear of the estate facing Dulwich Common has three blocks each which makes the proposed block a blot on the landscape.

Lordship Lane Estate: Stop the tower block petition
Bic Basher replied to oliviassmith's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It was proposed to be a three story building, but Labour Southwark once again railroad another potty scheme where the proposed block of flats is an eyesore and doesn't match with the rest of the estate. Southwark have a track record of attempting to add social housing by either building on green space or on spaces that are inappropriate. I doubt residents of the estate would have issues if it was a three story design that blends into the surroundings and didn't spoil views of Dulwich Park for residents. -
Brixton, Lewisham and Catford are the nearest after Peckham. If it's basic banking, such as depositing cheques or cash or withdrawing money, the Post Office offers that service to HSBC customers.

306 Medical Centre is doing the same, if you have an in-person appointment, they let you in, if you're collecting forms, they leave it at the door.

It closed Sainsbury's Local when I went there around the time you posted.

I've only been getting normal post delivered on Thurs-Sat if I'm lucky. Mon-Weds seems to be a no-go.

Royal Mail..parcels not being delivered
Bic Basher replied to Oneredfish's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I found if parcels or small packages were sent tracked 24 or 48, I got the deliveries on time this week, but there were delays to normal post again this week. Clearly if you pay more, the Royal Mail is prioritising those over thoss sent standard 1st/2nd class. -
Nope, Labour have shown to run the council as their own little fiefdom by shoehorning schemes such as the current LTN to get government money, regardless of the views of residents. It's even worse in Lewisham where Labour have no opposition.

Best mobile phone service in London

EE I've found to be fine across SE22, the only drop-out I get is at the Horniman Triangle between Wood Vale and Sydenham Rise and going up Sydenham Hill to Kirkdale.
