Last home game of the season today. A routine 2-1 win over Burnley in one of those games that will not affect anything major ? give or take a couple of positions in the league (not that the result was an accurate reflection of the game). I rarely stay on for laps of appreciation but, this season, given the achievements of the team, I did, as did nearly every Birmingham fan. I never thought that we would be relegated this season ? unlike many pundits, including a number on EDF ? but we have exceeded my (realistic) expectations by 5 or 6 places. What has struck me more this season in the 40 years of supporting Blues is the attitude of the players throughout the season and the dignity of Alex McLeish. When the strains of ?Keep Right On?* rang out while the players were being rightly applauded, I felt very emotional and proud of my club. This is what supporting a team is all about. *the best song of any football club.
