Watching my cats over the years with foxes, I've found that foxes have totally ignored them. One exception was when a young fox hadn't seen my cat and found himself eye to eye with my cat at a distance of 1 metre. There was a stand off but the fox blinked first and my cat chased him out of the garden. So proud of her. I believe when foxes have attacked cats, the cat has been vulnerable - old, young, ill wounded.

I've noticed the foxes are very frisky at the moment, it's mating season. Perhaps it was a male fox who saw you as a danger to his vixen and wanted to see you off.

Post office or Thorpe Park???!
Jenijenjen replied to TheBishopGoer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I took an item for tracking to Los Angeles having paid postage and customs fee already online to Family Stores in Upland Road. They printed label and custom form from a QR code and all good, present has arrived, and there was no queue. ETA Actually the main reason I posted this is to reassure those who are put off sending gifts to the US because of all the tariff business, like I was, that it is very straightforward -
The Telegraph and the other right wing media, do they hate Britain?

Trump said in his disgusting Truth Social post that Rob Reiner died as a result of suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. The person who suffers the most from this is Trump himself and it might just do for him. -

Mural on Barry Road....gone
Jenijenjen replied to MiddleAgedMan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Didn't the same thing happen when the bee mural was there which eventually led to the second mural being painted? -
I think they're kept up all year as it's cheaper that way, only turning them on around Christmas

Mural on Barry Road....gone
Jenijenjen replied to MiddleAgedMan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It was the second mural on the site, perhaps it will be replaced by a new one. Don't think we can look on any of these murals as permanent fixtures. -
The report of infestation is gross. How could anyone let things get so out of hand?

We R Blighty Scam on Lordship Lane
Jenijenjen replied to Monkey_vs_Robot's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's been a previous thread about them here in April https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/360001-warning-we-r-blighty-outside-ms/#comment-1703274 and a second one in September https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367417-‘we-r-blighty’-outside-ms/#comment-1721150 where I posted ",,, they have been found guilty and fined for illegal street trading and collections in June in the City of London. https://news.cityoflondon.gov.uk/we-r-blighty-pleads-guilty-of-illegal-street-trading-and-collections-in-the-city/ " -
That's certainly the narrative that runs ad infinitum on the Forum but I wonder how true it is. Speaking for myself I'm very happy M&S, Superdrug, Pret and, in the last century, Sainsbury's arrived and judging from the business they do I'm not alone.

In many places it's the businesses of the area who pay for Christmas lights. (That was the sound of LL businesses falling to the ground in a faint at the suggestion) The Christmas tree in Dulwich Square was paid for by a crowdfunder

Timely article in today's Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/money/2025/dec/07/the-rise-of-parcel-thefts-how-to-protect-yourself-from-porch-pirates Doesn't really say anything new though Most companies these days do though offer online tracking, usually with links to the courier company they use, or have chosen to use for a particular delivery. In the rare cases where I consider placing an order with a company that can't offer this, I go somewhere else.

I find that Amazon deliveries only become trackable when they're about 8 stops away

Inpost "Parcel was refused" at Barry's - anyone else?
Jenijenjen replied to fishboy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was in the post office yesterday and they were so overwhelmed by parcels, incoming and outgoing, they had to stop accepting Evri returns -
Many of the goods available on Amazon aren't dispatched from an Amazon facility but direct from the supplier who use their own couriers which can include the post office. This is indicated in the item's information by the 'fulfilled by' information. Amazon themselves are certainly still delivering in Dulwich. Don't want to jinx it but I'm finding RM tracked deliveries very reliable. Even DPD messed up one of my deliveries this week but all now resolved.

My experience with phone shops is that they hand the phone to you to key in passwords etc. -
Someone who can show me how to use my Samsung phone!
Jenijenjen replied to tomskip's topic in Wanted
I switched from one samsung phone to another Samsung phone about a couple of years or so ago. Now I may be misremembering but what I think I did was to 1. Open a samsung account which gave me access to Samsung's cloud. 2. Uploaded what i wanted to transfer to new phone to the cloud. It gives a choice of which categories to upload. 3. Log in to samsung on new phone then download stuff from cloud onto new phone. I was very hesitant but I remember it was quite simple and straightforward, I surprised myself. I do keep all photos and documents on other clouds which means I can access the same file/photo from different devices, and agree with Sue about accessing emails. Good Luck! -
and as has been pointed out on another thread, the 'news' has become a matter of (subjective) opinion rather than fact.

Well, they would wouldn't they. Of course Kemi, members of the shadow cabinet and other political leaders in opposition are stirring it. The Times quotes ministers accusing Rachel of misleading them but are not named and who knows, if they're real, what their agenda is. The OBR is supporting her Rage bait is the word of the year and the right wing press have played their part in that.

I had a frustrating (non) delivery experience with Yodel recently who I believe are now part of InPost. Fortunately the supplying company had some kind of customer service so got a refund Totally agree with last paragraph, one of the excuses I was given for non delivery was bizarre. Delivery companies and suppliers offer delivery on a certain day and when they're unable to fulfil this they lay a false tracking trail. Think Amazon may also do this.
