Your complaint to Lime may have brought results as yesterday, walking down Barry Road, I saw a number of the bikes being loaded onto a white van. Or perhaps the council had intervened. There are certainly fewer of the bikes now in the area compared to a few days ago.

How to get rid of a brown bin?
Jenijenjen replied to Soylent Green's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You don’t need to do anything, they will collect it automatically if you don’t renew. It will take a couple of months though or more … -
That makes sense, I believe Forest is owned by the same people as The Fresh Flower Company two doors down

Oh Rockets I think we know who keeps posting on the subject to ensure it remains current 😂 Here you go again quoting incomplete and unknown stats to prove your argument. The majority of the posts on the thread are made by a low number of repeat posters, the number of posts by these members is high and does not reflect the general membership.

There is a hardcore perhaps still interested but I’m guessing the majority of us are bored to tears with the subject. Continuing to post in this section about the subject is to the detriment of the whole EDF.

East Dulwich Grove before the Dutch Estate
Jenijenjen replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
“The Council acquired the site from the Dulwich Estate in March 1960. The existing old houses on the site were relatively large and, by the late 1950s, were in very poor condition; as their leases were due to expire in 1964. A report at the Dulwich Estate’s Finance and General Purposes Committee on 27th February 1960 confirmed that this land (the sites of Nos. 131-173 (odd) and 90-140 (even) East Dulwich Grove and ‘Lyncote’ and ‘Ferrodene’ Green Dale) was to be leased to Camberwell Council for 200 years from 25th March 1960 together with the benefit of the leases expiring on 25th March 1964. The ground rent was to be £750 up to that date and £1600 per annum thereafter.” https://www.dulwichsociety.com/the-journal/winter-2010/dulwich-estate -
East Dulwich Grove before the Dutch Estate

Very interesting. This is the OS map from 1950 showing the houses that were where the Dutch estate is now. -
When public sentiment toward the coronation is lukewarm, it has now been decided that the public should swear allegiance out loud to the new king and his descendants. Who is responsible for this ridiculous tone deaf idea? It’s totally put me off this Saturday’s event.

I may be doing something wrong but when another post is quoted in a new post there is no way of seeing who posted the post that is quoted. If you see what I mean

The Grove Tavern (Old Harvester)
Jenijenjen replied to Angell34's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Was it definitely council workers? It isn’t council owned. -
Before he entered No.10, he was camped out at Carrie's flat in Camberwell because he'd lost everything in his latest divorce. In No.10, he shook the tree among donors in an opaque scheme to decorate his residence. If after No.10 he was plonking down cash to buy multimillion pound properties when his legitimate earnings could not have been the source of those funds, that would be very suspicious. There are reports that he has received £5 million since leaving No 10 seven months ago https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/feb/08/boris-johnson-advance-payment-speeches

"Medivet seem to be taking over many practices as their previous owners retire." Sadly, this seems to be true and not always when the owners retire. The vet opposite Herne Hill Station and the one in Norwood Road are both now branded Medivet. By my reckoning, and I hope I'm wrong, the only independent vet in the area is Mrs Robson in Highshore Road.
-
The Neighbourhood Vet, despite the name, is no longer run by the two independent vets who started it but individuals who describe themselves as ‘Finance Director’ and ‘Accountant’ who also own* a few hundred other vet practices throughout the UK. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/07692597/officers I suspect the vets themselves, who I believe are employees, may be placed under a lot of pressure to maximise income which is easier to do when a pet has insurance hence the promotion of insurance policies. Lordship Lane Vets was incorporated into Medivet some years ago and I guess large conglomerates of practices is the way of the 21st century, not always to the benefit of pets or their owners. Mr Lomax used to terrify me I have to admit but I never felt he was trying to make as much money as he could out of me and had the best interests of the animal at heart. * Edited: This may be incorrect in that they are directors of the other practices rather than own them.

I didn't see that one coming. I just knew someone would come up with that!

Salad and veg have a limited life, unlike loo roll, which would preclude panic over buying.

Blood tests, FHRGP, Southwark Council and HIV Testing
Jenijenjen replied to jazzer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I also collected forms for blood tests from FHRGP the other day and the receptionist pointed out that the form included testing for hiv. I also remember receiving a letter from the practice some years ago saying that my data may be shared with third parties. This was the default position unless I advised the practice otherwise. -

Houses on Upland Rd/Crystal Palace rd
Jenijenjen replied to NewWave's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I’m curious too. One thought that came to my mind, and it is only a thought, is that the cladding on the top storey is being replaced as it does not conform to standards.
