Worth noting that there are no Southern trains (except for Gatwick Express) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday next week.

I'd expect London Overground from Peckham Rye especially to be a nightmare, along with the buses, especially the 40, 176 and 185. It may be better from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park which has more Overground trains, but will be exceptionally busy.

any info on trains back from London Bridge to east Dulwich will be appreciated - are they running, any news on later this eve ?

The nat rail enquiries website seems to say every 15 mins but I don't know whether that's old information they've not bothered to update / the timings listed are automatically invalid due to 'Industrial Action' banner at top of page.

I've used the Beckenham line today without problem... the nat rail website is reasonably up to date, but they don't seem to know which trains are running on time much in advance. Safest to check the 'live departures' board on the site to check how things are running.
Don't often get the train but did today and at every station and onboard announcement Southwest Trains made a point of saying their new timetable starts December 11th (Sunday) and that everyone should check the website. The way they were pushing it made it sound as though there would be significant changes so may be worth checking if your route will be affected if you're heading that way: https://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/plan-your-journey/timetables/download-timetables2/
I'm not sure whether I'm imagining things or not, but to compound our misery bus services back from the City in the evening seem to be getting worse (big gaps on the 40) and now the dot matrix at EDW station bus stop isn't supplying info.

Why did I look ? Just interrupted a lovely Sunday by looking at Southern Rail site......This is what it says.....

"Due to the industrial action by drivers in the ASLEF and RMT unions, regrettably we expect Southern services to be severely disrupted every day until further notice.

On Monday 12th December there will be a reduced service operating with no service on some routes. Please avoid travelling at peak times and services are expected to be very busy and queuing systems may be in place. you should allow extra time for your journey. Further details are available on our travel advice page. Please ensure you check your journey before setting off".

Deeply despairing !! Strike days Tues-Thurs, so is Monday a rest day, 'no service on some routes' ?

For all those of us who are taxpayers (including those {not now} travelling with Govia] - the paltry compensation you will be paid for having no service is coming out of your tax, not Govia's profits. Govia, the RMT and ASLEF wish you one and all a very crappy Christmas (especially those who thought they were travelling by train to Gatwick), and a ghastly New Year. And they intend to deliver on their promises.

We need to get to North Dulwich tomorrow morning by 8am. Best way? Walk? What are the roads like that time of morning from Peckham Rye?

Train timetable says no trains after 7,17 for an hour. Is that due to strike or misinformation in the timetable.

Will get a cab if need be. Walk otherwise.

PR to North Dulwich - under normal circumstances you can expect around 5 trains per hour, but obviously during strikes it will be much reduced. TBH I wouldn't even bother trying, as they will inevitably struggle to adhere to the published timetable.

    • Disagree. Where are the police when you need them? People want a police presence, they want to feel reassured by seeing them do what the word suggests, policing, so go catch some bad guys, arrest, charge and get the CPS to prosecute with the evidence to enable this to happen. Stabbing and shootings are so common place they no longer even get reported in the public domain. How many crimes don't get solved? Rather case closed and forgotten. The number of low to high level crimes which remain unsolved is staggering.  The criminal fraternity know this, they know they won't get caught so they just carry on.  Biggest crimes which affect most people, probably are phone and car theft, both are prolific and what do the police do, diddly squat. zilch, nothing, provide a crime reference number and the case is closed. Not good enough, not by a country mile.   Met Engage? I don't think so.

Recent data suggests a drop in violent crime. Gang violence will make a significant contribution to the numbers. You are unlikely to be attacked by a stranger
    • Unfortunately there are plenty of shops which don't care and will sell vapes, alcohol and weed to minors, I'm sure they won't care about selling them fireworks. Or the kids nick them.
    • It’s getting a bit annoying. We’ve a nervous dog who trembles when they go off. I know to expect it around Halloween and Diwali but it seems to be happening more through the year.
