Agree with this - he has very good people skills - maybe he could train up other staff!

Personally I find the Dulwich pool pleasant, but the gents' wet changing room far smellier that it needs to be. (Smell is from the loo.) I like the front desk staff, they smile and give you their attention. Comments in this thread about needing another squat rack are spot on.

There was something about Peckham Pulse that put me off. I think it was a combination of the hassle of gym upstairs followed by a trek downstairs for swimming, combined with a sauna which was possibly located in Brigadoon, up on gym level. And the staff didn't manage to create the same welcoming experience as Dulwich.

you can def expect a two tier entry system (eg one for main entrance then another for eg gym). No more getting waved through.

Im personally quite excited by the new ownership and can only see upside / improvements. I might even join again if they deliver - bring it on!

I just hope they will do subscription for gym only..

Swimming pool itself it s very hugely and not good to swim regularly and for "longer" distances

With Fusion i could use the pool in forest hill (very big and modern) and the gym in ED, as also the gym in forest hill it s small with a very bad weight area..

Unless there will be separate subscription for gym and pool i m going to lose..:(

Shall i go for a good pool and bad gym in forest hill or a good gym and unbelievably bad pool in ED..?

..Think if they don t do separate subscriptions in ED i ll be forced to leave and go forest hill..sad!

    • You've sent me down a rabbit hole here! According to the 1909/10 street directory, 10 Whateley Road was the address for John Gibson, beer retailer.   He was born about 1860 in Walworth and his father, also called John, was a beer retailer as well. By the time of the 1891 census, John Gibson Junior had moved to 10 Whateley Road and described himself as a beer house manager. He was married to Margaret and had a son and a daughter. John and Margaret were still living at the address 30 years later when he described himself as a beer retailer. His mother's name was Charlotte Sarah and there is an entry from the same street directory as above for someone by that name described as a beer and wine retailer at 42 North Cross Road. This was most likely his mother, now described as a widow.   Hoping this is of interest.
    • A long overdue review for Niko who we have used a number of times over the years, sometimes to properly finish a job that other plumbers have not done properly. He thinks of everything! I only ever use another plumber if it's urgent and Niko is away. A really kind and thoughtful man and totally trustworthy
