Dulwich Born And Bred
Could anyone advise the easiest way to get to London Zoo from ED with a child in tow . I've looked online but there are so many different options and they all look rather daunting ! BeccaL
I'm pretty sure you can get trains to St Pancras from Denmark Hill/Peckham Rye as well - easier to reach from Herne Hill. TFL will tell you how long they think it will take to walk from St Pancras to the zoo (www.tfl.gov.uk) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109601-how-to-get-to-london-zoo/#findComment-1006619 Share on other sites
AuntieS
At the weekend you can find some free parking spaces near London Bridge, or train to London Bridge. Then get river boat to Embankment and then tube to Camden and walk. This has been the best option we've had for baby, toddler and parents and great fun. Time wise, we caught river boat at 10.30 ish and left zoo at about 3.15 which meant home easily for tea. Dulwich Born And Bred
I can't drive sadly and I'm going during the week with my group .Most of the routes seems to be via Camden Town which requires bus , train , tube and walking .Or a bus via Victoria.I'm just keen to go for the quickest and easiest route. Thanks for all your replies so far. izzybob
I've been a few times with two small children. I've found easiest as there are no stairs to deal with is Denmark Hill to St Pancras (occasionally need to change at Blackfriars, but easy change) and then bus or walk to the zoo. Quite a long walk, but fine if children in buggy. (If you/children are knackered at the end of the day, there's a black cab rank outside the zoo entrance and it's about ?10 to St Pancras....) Crokes
Not sure how journey times compare as it's a while since I did it, but an alternative route is: bus to elephant and castle, then bakerloo line to Regents park, then walk through the park to the zoo. Probably a longer walk than from Camden tube, but lovely to walk through the park. ludoscotts
I know you can get a boat from little Venice if you want to add another element to the day, you get on at little Venice and it comes down to a back gate into London zoo apparently beats ques at main entrance. Dulwich Born And Bred
Thank you all, I didn't think of the boat.I ended up getting a direct train from Denmark Hill to Kentish Town and the C2/274 bus outside the zoo . It was so easy and stressfree . Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109601-how-to-get-to-london-zoo/#findComment-1007858 Share on other sites

Dulwich Born And Bred
My friend went that way the day before and said it was a bit of a walk and given how my child complained about how tired he was and his aching legs after , I was thankful for the route we took . esme
Bus to Paddington (36 from Camberwell Green) and then boat ride from Paddington basin up to Camden - goes right to the zoo :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109601-how-to-get-to-london-zoo/#findComment-1025757 Share on other sites
pigglemarex
Have you tried city mapper app. It's awesome. There is also one called mumerground - that tells you number of stairs on a route so you can decide if it will be easy to bump your buggy down or up them.X Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109601-how-to-get-to-london-zoo/#findComment-1026995 Share on other sites
pigglemarex
What about the 37 to Brixton and then the Victoria line all the way to Euston? Victoria line is really quick and the trains are new so easy with a buggy.A bit of a walk but step free all the way! 29 min walk or you can grab a black cab. It's 7 minutes.I can't drive either and can second that Denmark hill way would be easy as well. Step free etc. X Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109601-how-to-get-to-london-zoo/#findComment-1026996 Share on other sites
