BeccaL
Gumtree apparently has lots of stolen bikes - a colleague of mine was offered one supposedly being sold by a pregnant woman because she couldn't ride it any more, except the frame would have been much too big for her to be able to ride - my colleague didn't buy it... Townleygreen
If you buy a folding bike, and always keep it indoors - by your desk at work, in your house at night, in your car boot - it won't get nicked. That is my experience anyway. neubi
Thanks so much for the message. Unfortunately the blue specialized isn?t mine, it was also locked to the railings so looks like it has an owner. I also had a visit from the safer neighbourhood team yesterday. Apparently that night several bikes were stolen from this area and a lot of those from the garden. I?m a bit unsure what the exact purpose of their visit was, but I?m hoping that the more people report bike thefts the more prevention can be done. Somebody must have seen the van they have loaded all those stolen bikes into! I was told the my chance of getting the bike back would be very high if somebody commits another crime, like a robbery on it. Having thought about it I?d prefer the robbery not to happen and never to see my bike again? Thanks for all the helpful comments about keeping your bike inside. This was the first night I left it outside in the garden and I think I have learned my lesson. I can?t help but think it?s ridiculous with the rents in this area that I have to share my bedroom with a bike or have to accept that it will get nicked, but hey ho?.
