Olivia, absolutely everyone is very, very welcome, children, pets, pirates too!

There will be children there, bbq ready ;)

Will post meeting place nearer the time. Sat afternoon 17th July, peckham rye park. Hopefully the sun will still be shining....

Sure OD, everyone welcome. I'm planning to come with my little ones so you will be able to meet them. it is on Sat 17th July, precise location and time to be announced. As it was Katie's call, those details should be up to her.

cheers everyone. so i shall await further postings...

LM - if i marinade them over night perhaps we could pass them off as tofu to the vegetarians and have a laugh behind their backs? though i suspect my eldest might be tough. that stubborn streak.

Mick, you are a terminally Golf Obsessed headcase. The picnic is on the Saturday. That's like yesterday's news in golfing terms. You can sate yourself on Sunday, mate. I'll make sure my 5 year old brings his plastic driver, niblick and putter to the picnic - you can coach him.

We've agreed to meet from 1pm onwards, exact spot to be confirmed nearer the time.

Anyone that wants to and can make it along on that date is very welcome. That includes golf obsessed headcases too.

As far as I know, I haven't yet* met anyone who has is coming along to this so please don't feel you have to know people already :))

*ok, one lady who is good at backgammon.

The eldest might do for Daizie's dog: Timmy Enrique Hallal - waste not want not...

hello katie, it's your backgammon friend here... sadly I won't be coming... it's my friend's 50th birthday

I wasn't sure if it was a sort of virtual online picnic, or if it was for real... sometimes hard to tell on the forum!!!

sad to be missing what will no doubt be a very civilised affairhttp://www.divinedinnerparty.com/image-files/black-and-white-picnic-theme.jpg

Umbrellas?

OK - I have consulted my picnic guru and the weather gods - this IS still on for Saturday afternoon.

I'll be at Peckham Rye Park, in front of the cafe area, from 3pm onwards. All welcome to join.

If the weather is not so good, or doesn't stay nice - we can always go to the Clockhouse instead.

Hope to see you there*

*unless you have a valid Doctor's note (which will, of course, be treated with the strictest confidence)

PS. might bring some balloons/giant sunflowers just in case you miss me B)

The Three Musketeers will be in attendance to meet with our esteemed Lady Katarina Van Der Wotsit. Looking forward to catching up with you again old bean.

Toodle pip.

Lady Esmerelda Fatima Billington-Jones (Esme). xx

    • Rant ahead: You're not one of them but unfortunately, there's a substrate of posters here that do very little except moan and come up with weird conspiracy theories. They're immediately highly critical of just about any change, and their initial assumption is that everyone else is a total fucking contemptible idiot. For example: don't you think that the people who run the libraries will have considered the impact of timing of reconstruction on library users? (In fact, we know they have - because they've made arrangements at other libraries to attempt to mitigate the disruption). After all, these are the people that spend their whole working week thinking about libraries and dealing with library users (and the kids especially). You don't go into the library game for the chicks and fame - so it's fair to assume that librarians are committed to public service and public access to libraries, including by kids. Likewise the built environment people (engineers, architects, construction managers, project managers, construction contractors, subcontractors or whoever is on this job) are told to minimise disruption on every job they do. The thing that occurs to us as amateurs within 30 seconds of us seeing something is probably not something a full time professional hasn't thought about! Southwark Council, the NHS, TfL, Dulwich Estate, Thames Water, Openreach - they're not SPECTRE factories filled with malevolent chaosmongers trying to persecute anyone. They're mostly filled with people who understand their job and try to do their best with what they've been given - just like all of us. Nobody is perfect or immune from challenge, and that's fair enough, but why not at least start from the assumption that there's a good reason why things have been done the way they have? Any normal person would be pleased that their busy, pretty, lively local library is getting refurbished, and will have more space and facilities for kids and teens, and will be more efficient to run and warmer in winter. But no, EDT_Forumite_752 had kids who did an exam 20 years ago, and this makes them an expert on library refurbishment who can see it's all just stuff and nonsense for the green agenda and why can't it all be put off... 😡😡😡
    • I completely misread the previous post, sorry. For some reason I thought the mini cooper was also a police vehicle, DUH.
    • This has given me ideas for the ginger wine I love, that no one else likes!
