I drove past this last night and noticed that it looked like it was being dug up, and possibly replaced. I know it was on the 2007 wishlist for ED (other thread), anyone know anything further....they may be up to something else, but fingers crossed it is being changed, however tad concerned to what....
I can confirm that there are now some reflective barriers surrounding a small pile of dirt (similar to a big molehill) next to the Dirty Old Lampost on Goose Green Roundabout. Some would say that's not a bad days work for a gang of council workers. Or a big mole.
This "dirty old lamp post" has been on goose green roundabout since 1887, and should be considered a part of our local history. I've seen pictures of it on various websites, and I believe it should be fully restored rather than replaced by some modern art version of a lamp post.

Very good EDKiwi.....Shows how efficent local coucil contracters are, 5 weeks to dig something up ;-)....anyhow any ideas on what is going to go there.....hopefully not another council "yes i think thats want they would want" sign. Sadly i think a good bet is that they would do anything and leave it empty.....hopefully someone can prove me wrong!

    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
