I know I am biased but it was a great game for any neutral watching. I have to say I am feeling in a very good mood tonight! Six mins extra time - thought we were playing at Old Trafford! Just noticed that I predicted correctly the result!Should have put some money on it........

I was sat next to a Man U fan in Hoopers watching the game - he spent a lot of the game telling his partner and kids (all Man U from what I could tell) - "What an amazing game"

End to end stuff - much better than most recent games between these two - dead jealous of you being there LadyG

Great call LadyGooner. And there was you being all gloomy in Hoopers on Friday. Have to admit to turning the radion off when united scored. Just couldn't stand the six mins of nervous hell. Sounded like a brilliant game and the result makes the premiership race all the more interesting. Hots it up nicely.

Didn't see the Arsenal match, but was listening to it on the radio. 5 live signal isn't the george at the best of times and it kepy cutting out at the important bits. That a side, it sounded like a fantsatic match. Looking forward to catching the highlights later on.

A couple of upsets from the big four so far this season - saw this table on another forum for just those teams:

Team Pd W D L Pts

Liverpool 2 2 0 0 6

Arsenal 1 1 0 0 3

Chelsea 2 0 1 1 1

Man Utd 3 0 1 2 1

Quite good reading isn'y it LadyG? (for now anyway)

That said United have played all of their games away from home. In these games they picked up 4 points this season. What was the gap between United and Chelsea at the end of last season.....?

We also only managed to secure 4 points from these games last season. We've only played 2 and we're already 2 up on that. Happy days for now.

Was a good day at Anfield yesterday and credit to West Brom who didn't park the team bus in front of the goal.

Twas a good game. Shame about the result but I'm sure even the Arsenal fans on the forum could have seen it going either way. Sadly I had to watch that game and the Liverpool game with two Liverpool fans.

LG you predicted it this week I predicted it last week...."I did say I liked Spurs......Now I've said that we'll get shafted by Arsenal next week."

I'm loving the cockiness creeping in to the spurs fans. Quite deservedly so, they're flying, and one day they might agree with me that Bent was a good signing who just never really had his chance before, being 4th choice. Good result for them, and I think they can forget relegation fears. Just a shame it was such a bad start, or they could be right up there.

    • Hello,  I feel as though our apartment is damp. I would like to borrow a dehumidifier to ascertain whether it is or not. Does anyone have a dehumidifier that I could borrow for a week?  thank you,    Brigid
    • Post much better this Xmas.  Sue posted about whether they send Xmas cards; how good the post is,  is relevant.  Think I will continue to stay off Instagram!
    • These have reduced over the years, are "perfect" lives Round Robins being replaced by "perfect" lives Instagram posts where we see all year round how people portray their perfect lives ?    The point of this thread is that for the last few years, due to issues at the mail offices, we had delays to post over Christmas. Not really been flagged as an issue this year but I am still betting on the odd card, posted well before Christmas, arriving late January.
    • Two subjects here.  Xmas cards,  We receive and send less of them.  One reason is that the cost of postage - although interestingly not as much as I thought say compared to 10 years ago (a little more than inflation).  Fun fact when inflation was double digits in the 70s cost of postage almost doubled in one year.  Postage is not a good indication of general inflation fluctuating a fair bit.  The huge rise in international postage that for a 20g Christmas card to Europe (no longer a 20g price, now have to do up to 100g), or a cheapskate 10g card to the 'States (again have to go up to the 100g price) , both around a quid in 2015, and now has more than doubled in real terms.  Cards exchanged with the US last year were arriving in the New Year.  Funnily enough they came much quicker this year.  So all my cards abroad were by email this year. The other reason we send less cards is that it was once a good opportunity to keep in touch with news.  I still personalise many cards with a news and for some a letter, and am a bit grumpy when I get a single line back,  Or worse a round robin about their perfect lives and families.  But most of us now communicate I expect primarily by WhatApp, email, FB etc.  No need for lightweight airmail envelope and paper in one.    The other subject is the mail as a whole. Privitisation appears to have done it no favours and the opening up of competition with restrictions on competing for parcel post with the new entrants.  Clearly unless you do special delivery there is a good chance that first class will not be delivered in a day as was expected in the past.   Should we have kept a public owned service subsidised by the tax payer?  You could also question how much lead on innovation was lost following the hiving off of the national telecommunications and mail network.
