SeanMacGabhann
Wasn't it the same last year tho LadyG? Youngsters were sweeping al lbefore them and then got spanked by Spurs. Jah Lush
If it wasn't for the fact that our goalkeeper Gomes is a bit like Dracula - he hates crosses - it would have been four-nil to Spurs. Mind you, I agree Liverpool should have had a penalty but we were by far the better team last night. I can't believe the form we're in at the moment since Harry has taken over. I just hope we can keep it going to the end of the season. mockney piers
Seriously, that Gomes is a liability, any cash at all available in the transfer window? (I know we don't) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/171/#findComment-147148 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
I don't think they'll be any cash on the table for Harry to bring players in but he's pretty good at wheeling and dealing in the market and our top priority has to be a goalkeeper. Also, Harry has made the best start to a managerial reign at Tottenham for 110 years (five wins and a draw) and ironically the manager at that time, Frank Brettall moved on to manage Portsmouth. ratty
Is Judas not after Scott Carson? Perhaps I dreamt it. Also Robert Green has been mentioned. One thing he does have is a good record with keepers - resurrected both Shakka Hislop's and David James' careers so I would expect a good signing for Spurs between the sticks! Rhinestone Cowboy
Hats off to Spurs and Harry for a great start Looks like they are aiming for a 7th place finish now. Hopefully he won't steal Green away from West Ham as I really rate him. Look forward to abuse when you are above us in about 2wks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/171/#findComment-147192 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
I really don't think I need to stoop as low as that Cowboy. It's only West Ham after all. But, I'd happily settle for the purchase of Robert Green in the January transfer window to work between the sticks at Spurs Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1210-football-focus/page/171/#findComment-147193 Share on other sites
david_carnell
The goalkeeping situation for England at the moment is a strange one. There is a lengthy list of possible to successors to, essentially, David Seaman's jersey. Yet none really stand out head-and-shoulders above the rest. Some of the performances from the below between the sticks this season have been excellent though....JamesRobinsonKirklandCarsonGreenTurnbullHartBut to choose one for a consistent England place seems problematic. James won't last much more than another year so seems nothing more than a stop-gap solution. Robinson was dreadful but seems to have found a new lease of life at Blackburn. Last weekend he nearly stopped Chelsea single-handed. bon3yard
Gomez does actually look like Nosferatu as well. Theres no getting away from it hes shite and has cost us a lot of goals this season. Thats fine when your winning but when we're up against it hes going to start costing us games. Still, nice to see Ronnie Corbett come on in his place!
