I have a question. Why is that Liverpool say Gerrard is unfit to play, yet the England camp insists that they check him over too. - However, Fergie says no to Rooney and Rio and no one bats an eye lid?

Really wound me up this morning. The lad needs to rest and recouperate yet the FA insist that he travels to London. Joke! There's no way that he'd let the club stop him from playing for his country (although I wish he would).

Get internationals out of the domestic season which would then shorten it by a month. Then if they insist on wrecking our players whilst on International duty, they will have the summer to recover.

Oh I expect they enjoy persecuting Scousers. I see you highlight the Man Utd players again and fail to mention the Chelsea ones.

Poor Stevie G had to drag himself - probably on a National Express bus? - ALL the way to London. I notice that unlike Rooney, Rio and the other shirker you forgot to mention, Wes Brown, Stevie managed a full 90 minutes this weekend, but suprise he isn't available for the England team.

Funny how you've been fairly quiet so far this season - I can't imagine why.

I didn't mention Chelsea as Terry got the same treatment as Gerrard. Funnily enough he's been ruled as fit to play. Gerrard had surgery for his ailment and it's a problem that LFC medics and now England specialists have confirmed.

Stop taking everything as a personal dig at United. Ferguson does this all the time, and the one time Rafa refuses a player he's checked.

To be honest, I can see Capello's point, as he felt Gerrard could of had that op in the summer, but instead he started the season then had the op during an international break.

I do think he friendlies are a bit naff, but at the same time, he needs to build a team, and I for one love international footie, and want to see the team do well.

I've said it before, but if they want less fixtures, get rid of some of the pointless european games, or don't have such a long break between the group and knock out stages, so it's more spread out.

Gerrard didn't have that problem in the summer, which is why he didn't have it done then.

Clubs pay a players wages, so why shouldn't they decide when a player has something fixed? The FA make a lot of money out of the

International team and it is often at the expense of the players' employers, be it Liverpool, United or whoever.

Expense? That's exactly the problem, It's all down to bloody money. I'm just old fashioned I guess, but international football should be the very peak for players and clubs. Clubs outside the top 4 still seem proud to have an international player in their ranks, and that is how it should be! I'll bow to your knowledge over Gerrard's op, but I thought the whole arguement was around the timing?

I've been quiet this season because I couldn't be bothered with the Liverpool love-in this place had become and constantly being accused of picking on you Annasfield.

I think you'll find that after the two games this season we have lost (only two and our season is over and Liverpool are champions elect) I was on here and posted! Personally I am quite happy with the way things are going (apart from the loss to Liverpool of course) as they were saying on MotD it's not only Arsenal who have great youngsters coming through.

As far as the Gerrard thing goes, he is constantly doing this same thing, he only ever seems to be fit for full Internationals and is always 'injured' for friendlies (I'm not saying he is the only one, I am sure there are examples of United, Arsenal (do they have any England players ;)) and Chelsea players who have a similar record). I think it's a good thing. I thought that the new idea was that if you were called up you went along, got assessed and then got sent back to your club if you weren't fit. I don't know why Rooney, Rio etc. weren't forced to report. If they had have been I wouldn't have complained, I don't think there's some sort of conspiracy against Liverpool and their oh so fragile players and I don't think that it'll do Gerrard any harm. I doubt that the England backroom boys were getting him to hop up and down on the spot on broken glass.

Oh and I started a new job where fannying around on the computer isn't as easy as the last one :-$

I couldn't be bothered with the Liverpool love-in this place had become

Surely more a Spurs love-in?

I am gutted, was going to be going to Anfield for the first time in AGES this weekend, only for work to suddenly decide to give us our backdated pay increases a month later than they'd announced, so alas, I can't afford it :'( Still, hopefully the pool will pick up the points against Fulham.

I didn't really bother with the match on Wednesday, but kind of wish I had. By all accounts an impressive show by some of the fringe / young players, and nice to see the England manager playing a friendly like a proper match. I think the reason everyone has totally gone off friendlies is down to the whole using 9 subs and changing most of the team at half time. What can that really show anyone?

Interesting outburst from Gallas in the news, wonder which 25 year old player he is talking about?

Consulted my grand daughter, who examined my foot and advised that verruca was very small and looked as though it would go away itself. She checked my feet a couple of months later - no sign of a verruca.
