I've always thought that Anelka is a class act. I remember watching Aresenal at The Lane. We (spurs) were winning 1-0 and in no danger of losing. He came on for the final 15 minutes and we ended up clawing on for a 1-1 draw. Just glad that he didn't start that game.

if I have time for proper grub I always head to Iznik

Iznik

much handier for the old Highbuy obviously but still doable - and very good it is too

The cafe on the corner of Holloway Road as you turn left out of H&I tube was a haunt as well

other than that I can't vouch for anywhere else - soz

Off to the home of football to watch the real gods of London take on some mob from white hart lane. As far as eating out goes I'm very lucky, I'm from a Turkish Cypriot background and get great treatment from my fellow Turkish restaurant owners. COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son and I are in the Green Quadrant, row 28, excellent seats.
I don't have a favourite per se as I use loads of them but there is one at the bottom of Blackstock Road, the Finsbury Park tube end, which is very nice but I can never remember the name ( ahem.... nothing to do with the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol before hand)!!

So we have to go to spuds all square, after a game which, on the balance of chances, and the team we put out, they should have won............but didn't. It wasn't a great game, and I heard many of the fans leaving the game saying they thought it was actually a poor game. Well all I can say is, You'll never beat the Arsenal!!!

Allardyce the walrus has gone. GOOD!!!!! I hope it's a long time before anyone is stupid enough to give this xenophobic, "everything thats bad about our game is down to foreigners" twat a job.

The thing about Newcastle's search for a new manager is, when you review the names they have discarded over the last 9 years, can they really do any better? If you don't achieve something with the liges of Robsons, Dalglish etc then maybe some of the blame lies with you?

That said Allardyce going is at least the right thing. Apart from his negative football, here is someone who won't talk to the BBC but write a column for Zoo magazine.

Sean, Dalglish is a f**king rubbish manager!!!

At Liverpool he was a figurehead, the team was actually managed by the "boot room", and he was the face for the media. Great player, and at that time, I probably could have won everything with that team.

Blackburn were the first team to effectively buy the title. Since then he's failed everywhere, think of Celtic.

Not sure Robson is that much better really.

That said, they need to get someone in and stick with him. Big Sam was Freddy Shepheard's man, which is probably why he's gone. They also need to stick 2 fingers up to the idiot fans who seem to think they will get the right man and suddenly be top of the world without any time to build anything! Currently they are behind Villa, Spurs, Portsmouth, Man City and Blackburn to name but a few.

    • Yes they do, but that is not the core tenet of representative democracy. At that level, we are voting for a parliamentary representative, irregardless of whether parties exist or not. It's why candidates can stand as independents.
    • Sadly I think you will never convince people like this. They think gardens have to be kept chopped back and controlled. My theory is that this comes from being (or trying to be) controlling in every aspect of their lives, so I doubt if anything you could say or show them would have any effect. But are they actually coming into your garden or leaning over into it and pulling up/damaging things? If so, maybe one of our community police people could have a word with them?
    • Dear Nature lovers - advice please. I am being harassed by a neighbour who doesn't like my standard of gardening which she calls 'messy'. (I have rewilded my garden with advice from the London Wildlife Trust and a gardening expert from The Times.) I have twice caught this neighbour and her husband pulling up my plants and damaging my trees. Plus she has photographed my house, and sent a dozen complaints to the Dulwich Estate about my plan to rewild the verge outside my property - approved by the Estate some 4 years ago in line with their stated policy of supporting biodiversity in and around Dulwich. What can I do to introduce these neighbours  to the benefits to us all of returning a portion of our gardens to nature?
