Just thought i'd mention Truly Scrumptious bakery , we make pretty decent coffee there (the handle kind) not a huge range but we do cappuccino, Americano ,lattes ,mochas and espresso . Most people that have tried our coffee have enjoyed it .

Toasted does excellent coffee and it's my favourite to sit in, but I always get my commute coffee from Blackbird Bakery - It's good and they make it exactly how you ask them to....

I like this thread. Coffee snobbery is a good thing! My order of preference in SE22/SE15 is -

1) General Store (they serve Workshop)

2) Old Spike Roastery

3) Cafe Viva (they serve Volcano)

4) Toasted (I think it is Square Mile)

5) Brickhouse Bakery/Peckham Refreshment Rooms

Wetherspoon's Lavazza filter coffee (is the Fox on the Hill in ED?) If not- make my own Taste the Difference Colombian in the cafetiere ..nothing else hits the spot imho

Aneto gets a thumbs up from me, I think they are a little underrated. I would say tho that I go to different places for black coffee than white - something a previous post picked up on! In terms of your morning coffee though S&S, I actually quite rate the lady outside the station, plus she's very nice.

I don't drink normal coffee but the decaf at La Scala is good (as is their breakfast tea, but I don't know which brand it is).

I love the coffee at Michelle's van outside ED station. I do get coffee there most mornings and on Saturday on North Cross Road. I love the fact it is not bitter and that is a rarity when getting a take away coffee.

Ok Guys, I've tried a few now in the past few days. Brick House was great but loses points for being closed on Mondays. My winner is Toasted. I'd wandered in before I moved here and thought it was a different place, but looks like they've just painted it. Seriously good coffee and fresh croissants :) I think I've also found my new local wine bar. Loving SE22!

Coffee @ Toasted is from Shoreditch Roasters ALLPRESS for those who were't sure if it was Square Mile. Never had ALLPRESS before. So not sure if it's the Roast or the Barista - but it's great :)

Oh yes - Small White Elephant is fab too. They serve coffee from Alchemy I think who are excellent. They are my go to if Cafe Viva is shut. Ah yes, All Press at Toasted! And Corals (was Lerryn's) is great too (serve Climpson's). I'll use Anderson's if any of the others are shut, but General Store have just extended their hours - hurrah! Really revealing way too much here about my coffee nerdiness.

In terms of type, I prefer a Long Black (shorter than an Americano), followed up by a Flat White (later!) if I'm really tired. No I'm not addicted at all ;- )
