Because they are guilt ridden alcoholics in denial about the severity of their addiction and need someone, anyone, even if it is a stranger on a local forum they have never met to okay it for them to start their daily drinkathon.

May be an element of truth, though people I know who say things like that are more likely to see drinking as a social ritual. I was just wondering why you don't hear smokers say anything like that, or fat people ask if they're allowed a cake yet (lying in bed with a bag of Tyrrell's as we speak).

I had a nice cup of Earl Grey in the end

Golly, and there was me thinking it was a bit of meaningless persiflage to while away the afternoon!

I wasn't being totally serious.

Well you need to be careful Jah, we guilt-ridden alcoholics can often take things the wrong way!

(P.S. I know you weren't!)

Excuse my ignorance but where did you learn the word persiflage from and how often do you use it? I?ve never heard of it which is no great surprise as I communicate by re-arranging the (about) 25 words I do know. I?ve looked it up though as I'm keen to be educated, though I suspect I won?t be saying ?persiflage? very often.

    • Hey fellow cat owners! Was hoping that you would consider putting collars with bells on your outside cats? I’ve wee fledglings in a nest and at the moment I’m defending them against an orange and white dude (I call him Trump) and his nemesis, a lovely Tuxedo cat (I call Elon)… they are quite the double act in my back garden!!!! It would give the wee ones a bit of a better chance if a bell could announce their approach. And as a feline owner myself, I know cats will be cats, but every little helps even the odds. many thanks.
