Yes, the double decker number 42s have been trundling along Red Post Hill over the past weeks/months.

Maybe that's what caused a major waterpipe burst early this morning on Red Post which affected the whole area, living wise and traffic wise?

Who knows but Red Post Hill and surrounding roads are left with the clear up all because of another 'consultation/extension'.

"Believe the Boris bus is around 12 so lighter than your average single decker."

Red AND green - how clever.

Still think SE22 needs a couple of express services/services served by smaller vehicles at certain times of the day but have been told by GLA trsnsport highest-up that because the current services are not jam packed - people can still board - they are not needed.

The reference guide in my anorak pocket advises as follows:-

1. Single deck bus (like P13) = 6.5T nett and 9.5T gross

2. Boris bus = 12.6T nett and 16T gross

The P13 is operated by E200 Darts

I really must get out more

Sadly, this is going ahead despite the Red Post Hill residents not being consulted in writing and submitting a petition from the residents stating that we do not want double deckers. They have given a spurious reason for the new routing because of tree preservation orders on Sunray avenue, to which we are also subject. This has very much been pushed through against our wishes and actions. Even Helen Hayes has petitioned TFL to change the route and they sadly haven't listened to her either...

Her credibilty is shot as she is always whinging about TFL and train operators. They just ignore her now.

Does it tell you the length and width of the single decker (ie P4) vs double decker to be used on the 42 route? Due to the traffic island "chicanes" on Red Post Hill I think manoeuvrability is more important than weight

Buses on the 42 route are 9.3m long

TfL run some double deckers that are 9.9m (e.g. route 176)

60cm difference.

10cm width difference.

Thanks, I came across it by accident looking for bus times many years ago. Is much better than TfL's site, including as you say all the information I was too scared to ask for.

Extended, but no longer serving Sunray Avenue, running along both sides of Red Post Hill instead.

Their mother batch cooks meals to put in freezer as the nearest supermarket (Asda) is 2- 3 miles down the road and not on a bus route - so they rarely have takeaways/ready meals or eat out.  They both eat fruit and veg daily and there is never a problem getting to eat these.
