I have had many good meals in Le Chardon (they did good deals at one time) although I have also had a metal staple in a piece of meat and broken glass in a salad - their lack of either apology or contrition was a marvel to behold. But the un-ordered items were 10 years or more ago - no problems (other than Parisian levels of service) since then. If the ownership is changing (as suggested by some) I hope that the basic food formula (glitches apart) remains.

I love the interior of Le Chardon and the food was fine, but the service left a lot to be desired. They were even stroppy with me once when I was trying to get the bill - insisted I'd already paid.

You would have thought they would have been grateful that I didn't just leave without paying with the way they spoke to me, but I swear they were more cross I insisted on paying.

Got to agree with that

As chain restaurants go, I think Cote are pretty good, great friendly service and I have always had nice meals there. Like the fact they automatically bring you a bottle of tap water rather than offering you still or sparkling and making you ask for tap and looking grumpy when you do or only bringing a thimble sized glass of water.

I think they got into trouble for not giving the service charge to staff at one point but were shamed into addressing that.

I'd love to see a good steak restaurant. As far as I know there's nowhere to get a good steak in ED.

Something akin to Buen Ayre (small independent Argentinian steak restaurant) in Broadway Market, Hackney. Which for my money does the best steak in town. Better than Gaucho and half the price. Never tried Hawksmoor though.

Their 14oz Sirloin is a thing to behold- great quality as well as quantity. I know that importing meat isn't de rigeur, but when it tastes this good it's hard to argue.

This exactly. Every steak i've ever had at a midweek, steak for a tenner type night, has been very disappointing.

The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
