peckham_ryu
Despite the off-putting thread title, you will find some ideas in this "Laptop Squatters" thread from last year: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1563597,page=1 There are some comments in it that are unwelcoming to the kind of nomadic enterprise you enjoy. Assuming you're a considerate paying customer in a place that welcomes your business, don't let the thread deter you! Keep us updated on where's best? Robert Poste's Child
If you're not in a position to buy coffees, food etc you might prefer upstairs at the library. DulwichFox
Any space is only sunny when the Sun shines.. A cafe with bow Windows ? Just for you to sit in.. and use their Wi-fi. Do you require BYOF Bring your own Food ? Perhaps a nice log fire for when it turns a bit chilly. This has to be a wind up.. (heating / Lighting) staff.. insurance..you would welcome someone sitting in a prime location using your space as an office.. Mrs2013
do you rather have people gossiping around a coffee? As long as there is no space shortage there should be no limit on a restaurant/cafe's table availability to a paying customer.People have of course to be reasonable. tomskip
Dulwich FoxThe op is looking for somewhere to "work on her computer" not "use as an office". I would have no problem with it as a cafe owner so long as the person with the laptop made some purchases and didn't block the table at a busy time. I know it's a long-running theme on the EDF about wifi workers taking advantage, but how unfriendly is it to dismiss this entirely reasonable question in the way you and Dog Duck have? Incredibly rude, prejudiced, unwelcoming and off putting! A simple search of the op's username reveals that English is not her first language. Jeremy
Yep, I think it's absolutely fine as long as you're considerate... buy food/drink, don't take too much space, etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/126271-looking-for-a-very-sunny-barpubcaf-in-ed/#findComment-1056994 Share on other sites

ianr
The actual article is http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/manpower/how-to-solve-the-perennial-problem-of-seat-hogging. I expect DF probably googled something like "hogging seats in cafes" and lighted just on the image. There are several articles available, though none of them specific to ED.I'm sorry the OP's question hasn't always been respected and that the thread has been diverted, and for my own part in colluding with that. I think I was drawn in just by my dislike of having the illustration forced on me. I may even have believed at the time that this was already in the Lounge. Enough. missbl
Thank you for all the good tips and the nice reactions. To clarify things, I don't own a business on-line, it was indeed a misunderstanding because English is not my first language. And I would also be interested in a nice log fire actually :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/126271-looking-for-a-very-sunny-barpubcaf-in-ed/#findComment-1057188 Share on other sites
