Everyone is talking about slightly odd or rotten foods. But are there any off habits, possibly left over from childhood? Mine is the mashing casseroles up with mash potato. See also Cottage / Shepherds pies.

Although I did watch in horror recently as my 5 year old stirred ice cream up in to a liquid mess. Yet my sister and I used to do exactly that with that 3 flavor ice cream you used to get.

My mum used to take me for a haircut at about aged 5, then the cafe afterwards. I'd get a coca-cola and add a whole lot of sugar to it, and watch it fizz. I'd also eat the sugar from the bowl, which was hid in the grill section of the oven. Oh how I loved that blue glass and silverware bowl

But I do neither of these things now, my teeth ache at the thought. That said, I still have vinegar on my cabbage if it's with Liver & Bacon, and brown sauce can feature. But I also do those beyond the confines of my front door.

The brown sauce thing has just reminded me of one.

I always have HP sauce with Fish Pie. In fact, most white fish with a white (ish) sauce.

It goes remarkably well.

Also, always have mint sauce with Shepherd's Pie (but I rarely use real shepherd's these days), but I guess that's less controversial/disgusting as Lamb is involved.

I'll have a good few spoons of practically anything straight out of the tin before warming it- beans, soup, spaghetti (all Heinz), tinned fish........oh and marrowfat peas, mmmmm!!

This goes on while waiting for toast. And I really can't think of anything that doesn't go with toast.

Like your style RPC, like it a lot!! How d'ya get the hula hoops to stay on tho?

I've just answered my own question. It's the ketchup innit :))

That trumps everything. Good call.

I'm a bit dubious about 'lightly heated' RD. Sounds like a hell of a lot of effort to me :))

Key question is which flavour MM?

This reminds me of a food festival stall at Burghley House in Lincs, a local butcher specialised in black pudding & strawberry jam sausages which apparently won a great taste award!

Exactly, though you can also lay the hoops flat side down as that ups the crunch factor to an almost masochistic level.

Was that at the horse trials? I go most years and spend more time in the food village than watching the horses go round, I'm slightly ashamed to say.

Apparently some people eat suasages with marmalade. Never tried it but sounds viable.

    • You don't need a gym to lose 10kg. Get a set of dumbbells and maybe a resistance band, find a HIIT channel you like on youtube and workout in your room, eat clean and go out every day. £115/mo is ridiculous. I thought they were supposed to be about £20 to £30 and most people give up come February anyway.
    • Point taken..I go 3-4 times a week and have done every week for several years however £115 a month is still a lot of money for many people (myself included) for a 'non essential' One can if one wishes excersise by running or Cycling, swimming once in a while. Gym membership IS a luxury...
    • Tawny owls are hooting in Dawsons Heights very near me. But very elusive birds. Sadly now on the amber list.  I have heard the owls every night for the past couple of weeks  It is good to know they are here. They are quite loud so I think they are very near. I have never seen an owl in the wild before and wish I  could  see them.
