Keef
Saturday was the first show I've watched, so only seen Cher once, but based on that, I quite liked her. Missed the Britney cover. Pickle
Cher will do well. Not my type of music at all (I'm faaaaaaaar too old!), but I do find her very watchable and like her attitude. Can't help but think she's going to age badly if that's how she looks at 16... Aidan scares me with his mad eyes. Matt Cardle is likeable but the older blokes never do any good as the voting public tend to go for the young girls/boys. Does anyone else notice that one of the young boys in the boy band has a real "stage school" air about him? The others do their best to look broody and sexy, then there's the blonde one who seems to always be doing jazz hands and cheesy grins - hilarious. He'll do well in the West End! RosieH
Well I am sporting a little Albion Trinketry (aka jewellery by a c**t for a c**t). Ridgley
The thing that concerns me about X Factor, is when the contestant wins the completion and they are signed to a record deal if they do not sell enough records they are drop is there some sort of after care for these people when this happens? Keef
Why should there be. They win a shot at a very tough business, with backing that others only dream of. If they flop, they flop. DJKillaQueen
I beg to differ. Millions of people like many of the acts and watch the show every week. It's one of the biggest rating shows, so I guess those that make the show know something you don't. mockney piers
I enjoy the panto meets car crash element as quids put it. It is finelyncrafted entertainment. The karaoke element is a bit shit though isn't it, hence why there are more 'quirky' marmite acts to love to hate.Watch out Wagner he's behind you.The end result acts are the musical equivalent of Maccy Ds though aren't they. They may be successful but they are also dull and generic. Simon Cowell is a very rich man because he recognises populist formulas that work, not because he understands music.I say hats off to the man personally but I'll never buy a record he produces (though I'll happily watch his shows, guilty pleasures though they are). The Minkey
Matt Cardle's version of Hit Me Baby One More Time: His version, while borrowing more from the Travis cover than from Brittney's original, was superior to either. Travis's version, while good, had a dirge-like quality that Matt managed to avoid completely. Not only was it paced at a better tempo, the phrasing was superb and it conveyed a greater sense of thwarted passion - imo.. *Bob*
It's a shame, because both this and thishttp://newsblogged.com/video-matt-cardle-x-factor-2010-auditions-youtubewere - 'and i mean this genuinely' - really good. TillieTrotter
Matt has a real talent I just wish they'd leave him alone. Give him back his hat and let him belt out some soulful tunes! He's actually too good for this show IMO. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12863-x-factor/page/7/#findComment-376411 Share on other sites
mockney piers
That's just it, I liked him and aiden, but this is completely the wrong format for them. They should be fronting a band, maybe writing their own songs.XFactor is squeezing their quality out of them, crushing their character. Aiden's intensity and introversion is surely his strenghth, that whole 'look at the camera engage with the audience' thing just makes him look a bit creepy and dysfunctional. They're both fast becoming generic toss.Mind you the Orange Unsigned Act is no better. A)I'm failing to see the point of Alex James full stop and B )Tommy Reilly was such an original and creative phenomenon, I ended up buying his singles and sadly overproduced generic power ballads somehow emerged, Tommy's talent crushed....aaaaaaagh!! *Bob*
After the (ahem) 'triumph' of Deodorant Salesperson Alexandra Burke last series, there's been a concerted effort by the producers (by the inclusion of Aiden, Matt, Cher, Katie etc) to make this series the series of the, umm, like, unique act, yeah?Unfortunately when shoehorned into the format and requirements of the show, they all come-out looking like caaants. Even the good ones. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12863-x-factor/page/7/#findComment-376418 Share on other sites
