What the hell have they done to this? It doesn't bear any resemblance to the original. The Gavin character is extremely unlikeable and I find it hard to believe that Pru would like him let alone marry him.

I gave up watching about the time I posted my first message. Tonight's episode was dreadful. What is up with British TV drama? Give me some Dexter, True Blood or Mad Men any day.

I struggled to get through the first episode. Thought the casting was all wrong......

TV drama died when accountants and PA's took over from real creatives and Producers.

Yep it brings me back to my child hood, I was not allowed to watch then but I now have a the orignal on DVD and you are right it nothing like it. But I will watch it to find out the conculsion

I loved the original - I think it was the first 'adult' drama I was allowed to watch - so deliberately avoided the remake. I had such a crush on James Aubrey.........sigh.

I remember thinking at the time of the original, 'how implausible - a gorgeous young girl falling for such an old git!'

Of course now, as an old git myself, I find it entirely plausible!

I had a crush on him as well. Ran into him once at Birmingham New Street station and shared a train back to London. Really shocked to find out he was English.
