That would actually probably work pretty well Mockney.:))

Asset: unfortunately not. Although I am of the opinion that I dress fucking cool! An opinion that is inexplicably not shared by my friends. In fact Mrs B recently likened my attire to that of a geography teacher.

?What?s wrong with geography teachers?? I said, ?If you had listened to yours more you wouldn?t have misdirected me at that last traffic-light and we wouldn?t be stuck in this traffic-jam.?

The swelling in my left ear is starting to go down.

But I digress?

I?ll shut up now shall I.

Aha ha ha! Cheers Annasfield and Brendan. It's just my age you know and the times I've lived through. I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up. I'm still 17 in my head. Now did I ever tell you about the time I went to see Toots & The Maytals at the Venue in Victoria or Dr John at Dingwalls?>:D

The bright yellow one? No, actually I don't drive. Never have. Would have been dead years ago if I had or somebody else would have. I prefer drinking and you can't do the two.

Ronnie Lane at Dingwalls, late '79 or early 1980. The poor man was hanging on to a post for support to stand up because of his MS but sang beautifully and with great feeling. Unfortunately the band backing him that night (including Johnny Kidd and the Pirates guitarist Mick Green and Ian Stewart (Stones)) had only rehearsed five numbers but the crowd loved him so much we got him to play the whole set again. Lovely man, great songwriter, much missed.

Oh right - thanks :))

I've grown up with music. My folks would always have the radio on or would be listening to one album or another. So much of the stuff I like these days is based on my childhood memories etc. i.e Squeeze, Queen, Van Morrison... The list is long. I know so much stuff from the eighties, but unless they were huge (e.g Queen etc) then I'd know the song, but wouldn't have a clue who performed it.

Just re read my comment Jah Lush - I didn't mean you were "old". Like you, I still think I'm 17 and it scares me to think that you had to have been born in 1990 to be that age now :(

I just assume everyone is the same age as me and then when people talk about things that happened before I was born, it all seems a bit strange. ;-)

Annasfield, I didn't take it to mean you thought I was old. I took it as a compliment that you thought I only sounded old when I talk about all those gigs that I went to before you were born. You sound like a top girl to me.

Bah! Queen, couldn't stand them. Although when I sang in a band we used to cover Now I'm Here. I actually walked out of one of their gigs. It was a free concert in Hyde Park. '75/'76 I think (there I go again). I was tripping off my tits and could only take about six or seven of their numbers before my friends and I had had enough of their pomp and bombast and made our way back to Dulwich for much needed liquid refreshment.

    • We made a day of it and went to John Lewis on Oxford street Tish Lyon in July this year. They use a needle and my daughter is super squeamish but they were great and she was brave they were really nice and the selection of earrings is lovely.   Monica vinadar also do a special kids experience they have a branch in canary wharf or flagship in chelsea.  You do have to buy a pair of earrings from them in both cases. It's about 20quid for up to three piercings and then u basically pay for the earrings of choice. All very unlike my own experience of taking myself to a hair dresser in Hull to annoy my mum and getting it done with probably a rank gun. I survived...less lovely though.  I did also recently get my own ears re- done at Polished. It was fine but did feel like blunt fork going through my ear and I did come away with a shirt collar covered in blood.  I survived and wasn't that bad... but again...slightly less lovely. A friend went to Pro beauty next to clippers in Dulwich. Her daughter was very nervous so they used numbing cream for her (don't think they normally recommend it as such) but that seems to have been a good experience as well .    Tish lyon will do from age 7, monica vinader you have to be actually exactly 10. We wanted to go a week before 10th bday and MV wouldn't do it until the day of 10th bday.
    • Yes, that sounds right. Couldn’t remember the name!
    • This is not what I am referring to as imaginary, more that to reverse this trend shoppers would be prepared to go back to high street shopping - To pay more - Endure the irritation, inconvenience and time spent real life shopping - and to have far, far far less choice. To shop in bricks and mortar shops means the shopkeeper is to a certain extent making preliminary choices for us. As I said before, the genie is out of the bottle.
