Holly Johnson closing he Save the Children night at Union Chapel Thursday one. Sang The Poer f Love with string section backing. Gorgeous venue, great once, beautiful tune.

Made up for the weirdness of seeing Tim Burgess duetting with Myleene Klass on a harp earlier in the night....

I saw the Cure in 1980 and they were brilliant. Maybe even better in 84. I saw them again in 1986 and they were still pretty decent. All down hill from there, I could probably listen to one of the early albums like Pornography on the odd ocassion if pushed.

I suppose my rather dismissive post is repeating what the older generation said about me after I saw the Who in 1979.

Anyway onto contemporary matters - seeing O'Hooley and Tidow on Monday week at St Pancras Old Church a weel tomorrow wish I am looking forard to.

Saw Arcade Fire last night at Hyde Park.

I didn't really know much about them (a bit sad I know) but I have to say I have rarely enjoyed a gig more than I did last night and I have rarely seen so many happy people in one place. An amazing performance and will be buying the back catalogue.

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
