Free! - Every Session! Fitness & Toning on the Rye - Sat @10am 16 to 60+

Recommended Posts

McCabe, Once again I find myself on a Sunday struggling to walk up and down stairs (damn those squats and walking lunges!) A fantastic session yesterday - I'm starting to see a real improvement in my fitness after only a few weeks with the group.

Look forward to seeing everyone next week.

Really fab session-if a little harder than usual, bring it on! Gotta burn off all the winter comfort food we're gonna start consuming! I even did dips, did you notice McC? Didn't wanna spoil the group work (tu)

Good job to all!

Those dreaded Adductors hey, I guess one more session will see them right. Excellent Siousxiesue with the dips, and agree that winter times gets us eating a bit more :-).

It was great having native French and Spanish speakers with the group, and Chantel will be back with us next week...truely a continental touch!

Has anyone else found their adductors?

Best!

McCabe.

Hi McCabe

Thanks for the German eve last Tuesday. Annoyingly I can't make it this week (have work meetings) or next (half term so we're away). Hope to make it to the one the week after. Will it still be at 7.30 on Tuesdays? Thanks for the book suggestion. I'm going to buy the French version to brush up on too!

Thanks

Kate

Good call, I agree spending the last weekend with bro was top of the list.

The group was huge last week and its getting bigger! You will see a sea of purple on Saturday :))

See you then,

Best!

McCabe

You bet sir!

Just in from hols and will wind the laptop up and send the usual Friday email out.

Catch you all in the morning :-).

Tomorrow will be an 'all-over' body conditioning, there will only be one optional fast piece in it, so will be extra fun to fill with a different angle....... Just wait and see, completely new from the top of the park onwards :-).

Hasta luego!

McC

And for the Mexicans, Hasta la Vista! :-)

Told you! ;-)

What a different session for the second half, 5-strides then touching the ground looks easy peasy but it takes a lot out of you. Deep squats with toe extensions works your Hams and calfs with the stabilisation muscle sets keeping you in position, along with the other toning workouts.

The 5 sets of 20 sit ups made 100 achievable followed by the 3 sets of Planks.

Loads more new things next week!

BTW, the easy peasy c.6-mile cycle rides start on Sunday 6th Nov, 10am start from Goose Green.

McC

Amazing.... how did you guys know??

Thank you all :-) It was a great weekend! The cake and coffee went down a treat! After you guys we headed upto see 'Jersey Boys' in the good old west end and for an early evening meal we popped over to Gerrad Street.

Yesterday started with an easy cycle ride with the new group and then headed upto Joanna's for an afternoon lunch... very swish indeed. So tonight, we will head to the local curry house and consume a few more calories >:D< !

Becks, so pleased you enjoyed the group. Its a really good team with more fun that exercise me thinks! So for you, I will bring back the 'Deep Squats' next Saturday. There will be a flow of purple there too!

Best, the birthday boy!

McCabe.

Hi guys,

Its going to be 16C and sunny tomorrow, looks like its back to Ab work if the grass is dry :-)

Two bottles of water for arm & shoulder toning, and I think there was a request last week for deep squats from..... Hmmmm.... Bec's :))

See you guys in the morning by the caf? for 10am

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
