Maybe he paid more than twenty quid for it. Or bought it off someone who did pay twenty quid for it round the back of the flats. Or found it abandoned. Or maybe it just looks exactly like your bike but isn't (though probably is).

In any case, it'd be worth talking to him - I had a bike nicked once and then when I saw it down the side of a house a few weeks later I knocked on the door, said, "that's my bike", and the kind gang of youths were only too happy to invent some lame story which exempted them from blame and let me take it away. Nice bike that.

Cheers!

    • Ha ha that's hilarious - how wonderfully embarrassing for Reform!
    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones. I'm particularly gutted because apart from the lovely people who worked there,  Dell was a five minute walk for me!
    • I did think that might be the reason, but five years out of seven it's going to be a weekday (I think. Not sure how leap years might affect things!)
    • Probably because the 5th was a weekday. We still have the weekend to come. Also, some fireworks going off nearly every night for the last few months. Last night something was being let off that made a very deep booming noise every 10 seconds or so. That said, if the general public are beginning to see the harm done by firework noise and choosing to use low noise options and refusing to support organised events that still use the full throttle type, I for one would be very happy. Does anyone know if the Herne Hill Velodrome Halloween fireworks event used low noise options?
