I love Strictly, it does cause arguments in the house though.. Kids get jealous of me paying attention to something else for a couple of hours a week and so does Mr. Asset even though he secretly likes it too.

Anyway, I was a bit disappointed to see Felicity has succumbed to Botox, that forehead cannot move a jot it's so frozen, does a fair bit of yoga though by the looks of it. Michelle Williams is dreadful, so wooden, Pamela was good but I can't bear the luvviness. Who's the guy Scott - he looks like a gangster, good dancer though it seems. Patsy a bit crap but nerves mainly it looks like.

Let's hope the dresses are better this year than last year's.

My guilty pleasure.

No..

But then I don't look at that sort of thing

* ahem *

W**F

I totally *heart* Strictly. Glad to find a thread about it :)

Just some of my thoughts on last nights Halloween special.

Pamela & James - She's got great natural dance ability and can perform it well but HUGE mistake aside, for some reason the jive didn't seem to work for her.

Tina & Jared - Much better job in their Argentine Tango but they seem to lack personal chemistry with each other.

Kara & Artem - For me, this was the Dance of the night. Dramatic, technically very good and finally some performance from Kara.

Patsy & Robin - Bless her, but Patsy always looks like she's dancing at a wedding after 4 glasses of wine.

Felicity & Vincent - Quite flat and boring, and what has happened to her top lip?

Jimi & Flavia - Really great performance piece. Who would have thought a zombie could do the Paso Doble so well.

Michelle & Brendan - The spat between Len & Brendan was the highlight of the dance. And Len was right IMO...lacking A LOT of content which is fair enough as she missed 2 days training. Brendan could have just defended the dance of that basis but threw a bit of a strop.

Gavin & Katya - Gavin, Gavin, Gavin...you are like polished floorboards....flat, shiny & stained. How can a person be that lacking in personality. What a waste of Katya's very impressive charms ;)

Scott & Natalie - Didn't quite understand the high marks, but then i'm not a huge fan of the Viennese Waltz. All that spinning makes me dizzy just watching.

Ann & Anton - Can we start a campaign for a medal for Anton? He needs something for all his heroic efforts.

Matt & Aliona - They are my favourite couple since the start but this was a poor dance. Lacking in content and nervously executed. He is probably the best dancer in the show but the choreography wasn't great. Sorry Aliona...we still love you.

Result show is on 20mins or so and my bet is on Michelle/Brendan & Gavin/Katya in the bottom 2. Probably Michelle will go.

Mr Roar and the miniroars all in agreement about loving the Strictly.

Quite sad about cute little Tina and the even cuter little bloke.

Felicity should have gone I think! agree about the botox, it is quite a 'coming up' look it's given her.

Rooting for Matt & Aliona but Patsy is really growing on me, totally agree about the wedding dancing though, that's part of the charm.

Gavin, Felicity or Michelle to go next week.

Was surprised to see Tina & Jared go, but on Strictly it feels that you've got to be either a very good dancer or very good entertainment to survive....and I guess she was just a little too average in both.

I agree with you mightyroar - Gavin, Felicity or Michelle to go next week. I'm torn though about Gavin. I want him to leave but want Katya to stay in >:D<

Anyway, roll on next week.

I think Strictly Come Dancing has jumped the shark.

For all those out there who don't know what I'm talking about its a reference to an episode when the Fonz jumped the shark while waterskiing as I remember....it was something so ridiculous, the programme Happy Days lost its relevance or at least began to lose it. For Dallas, the equivalent moment was when Bobby stepped out of the shower a series after he died. For Eastenders, I think Dirty Den's return symbolized a moment when the programme makerse had lost their senses. For Brookside, my gosh any amount of moments could be presented as evidence.

This season marks that moment for Strictly Come Dancing. Ann Widdecombe's progress highlights the fact that the programme is not what it was when it began, it's morphed into something else.

Well Gavin's still in. Dancing has improved but personality not.

Ann went out with dignity at last but showed good humour at least, there's no denying she has been a memorable part of this year's show.

Scott in the bottom two so obviously not down to dancing ability. Looking forward to the semi and the final. Can an older woman win for the first time?

Well, Scott only scored two more points than Gavin who was in the bottom two with Ann so I don't think it's THAT which is the main indication the public don't vote based on ability.

Taking ten weeks to get rid of Ann... now THAT is an indication people aren't voting on ability.

As for Scott, I think he's gone off the boil lately, and am getting a bit tired of his complaining he is tired working on east enders at the same time. He's not the only one doing two jobs - think Matt's been doing Countryfile the whole time.

    • No doubt the schools in Harrogate are being discussed on the East Harrogate Forum or whatever. Dulwich College is being discussed because it's local. Saying "ooh, there were loads of schools mentioned" is a bit dismissive. It was Dulwich College that referred sex abuse allegations about pupils to the police and Dulwich College that used the spectre of the police to suppress dissent. 🤔
    • Hi, I was just wondering what experiences any of you have had in relation to an Independent Panel review relating to the Permanent Exclusion of a SEN child. 1. General experience Any experiences, positive or negative, in general? 2. Clerks Associates UK Any experience of this entity acting as an "independent clerk" to an Independent Review Panel in a matter involving a Permanent Exclusion of a SEN pupil, also involving discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. There is limited publicly available information with regards to this "independent clerk"; however, I can see from their Annual Report & Accounts at Companies House that they are a small, privately owned organisation.   I am very concerned that there is a clear and material risk that they are highly dependent for their revenues and cash flow from the business that they receive from the school and its parent Trust (which has 9 schools in total under its management) who have appointed them. I also note that the Trust has a material employee relations dispute with their staff over underpayment of maternity pay whilst materially increasing the salaries of the highest paid Trust executives and other highly paid staff (presumably the Head Teachers). https://southwarknews.co.uk/news/community/teachers-at-six-charter-schools-walk-out-in-first-of-four-strike-days-planned-for-this-month/ Given the current situation, we have no choice but to engage in this process of an Independent Panel Review; however, we are concerned as to various elements including this one which is a key role in providing independence. 3. Independent SEN expert We have the right to an independent SEN expert to review the matter and provide their opinion to the Independent Review Panel. The concept is that this person is supposedly acting "independently" and also solely in respect of the SEN elements of the matter. We do not however know who this person is, their experience or level of independence. The last information that I can find in the public domain about the effectiveness of an Independent SEN expert is a UK govt report from 2014 which portrays a very mixed experience for parents. Hence, we are seeking to understand if anyone has any more recent experience of an Independent SEN expert in relation to an Independent Panel Review. Many thanks for any thoughts that you have based on your experience. For reasons of confidentiality, it is perhaps better to send any replies to me directly. Many thanks
    • Hang in there, friends. Most of us appreciate that you're trying you best and these companies are a nightmare!
    • I agree about the site and buying another one, but I was responding to a query about the old site. Which was no longer fit for purpose. Selling that and not buying another locally was just money for old rope for the foreign owners, as was moving the DO to an unsuitable building too far away.
