Hi

Yes that shouldn't happen, it's something we introduced last night and so appreciate the feedback.

Please could you look at a page e.g. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/list.php?30 and hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key and let me know if it still happens.

Also please could you let me know what browser and computer you are using e.g. Internet Explorer 7 and Windows XP. An easy way to do this is go to http://supportdetails.com/ and email it to [email protected]

Thanks

Mark

Same for me, using Firefox 3.6.12

Hi, if you're seeing the adverts stacked on top of each other at the top of the screen the please refresh the page (press F5 on a PC), that will fix it.

As for the page being sat on the right hand side of the screen, it's something we have to look into. It's because the new 'containing frame' of the page is wider than your screen; in that frame is a blank column, the content column then the advert column. You people with a 1024pixel wide screen only see the first two columns, so it looks like is sat to the right.

Apologies for any inconvenience and I'm hoping we'll work out a fix for it

OK, so we should have resolved the right alignment issue, if you still see the site aligned to the right please refresh the page (F5 on a PC).

Also there was a problem with the forum slowing down, this was because of a script that had to work out what section of the forum was showing before showing the ads. We have removed that script and, although the ads show in all sections of the forum it should be faster.

Just logged in to find the main frame ranged left with the ads stacked vertically to its right. The page width is fractionally larger than my screen resolution.

The site is now functional albeit somewhat lopsided.

For what it's worth, from an aesthetic point of view, I would favour a symmetrical layout wherein the adverts are arrayed horizontally across the screen at the top, middle or bottom (or even all three) with a centred main frame rather than the current asymmetrical design which looks a bit odd (to me).

Viewing on me mobile (samsung wave through opera) looks really strange now, ads in the middle going down centrally and the thread lists are all squashed up instead of nicely stretched. Used to have to zoom in and out to navigate around the forum but not now... dunno if it's anything that can be changed or I shall have to stick with complaining about stupid smartphone apps... Using Bolt lite looks ok though *shrugs*

    • But you have to assess whether these persistent drivers are creating more safety issues than diverting emergency vehicles on a longer route and clearly they are not. The fact members of the pro-closure lobby have built their argument on this actually shows how desperate, some would say selfish, they are to have the junction closed and just the way they want it. And unfortunately they seem to have the council over a barrel on something as the council weakly concedes to their position without hesitation. Was this not borne from an FOI that said one of the emergency services confirmed that they had not been consulted on the new DV design that Cllr Leeming then said was actually a mistake by the emergency services - and then it's a case of whether you believe Cllr Leeming or not....and his track record is hardly unblemished when it comes to all things LTNs?
    • A song thrush visited my back garden today. I watched as it smashed open a snail by whacking it against the patio.
    • I have no doubt that local people are genuinely involved (and personally can understand their not wanting to publicise their involvement). That said the proliferation of One groups across London and the degree of co-ordination suggests it is more than just a local grassroots group. I’m not really that interested, except that many of their supporters do bang on about transparency and accountability. I would be interested in the substance of their latest missive. Who has been pressurising the emergency services and how? Who genuinely believes that people are partially covering their plates and driving through due to inadequate signage? Sounds a little ridiculous / desperate. It feels like it may be time for them to start coming to terms with the changes tbh.
