EDF Xmas Drinks - Friday 10th December 2010 @ The Lodge

Recommended Posts

That kebab shop get FOUR STARS in terms of hygiene ratings! I checked - and was well surprised. I shall be going there more often LOL! Can someone tell me though, why oh why do I only ever crave kebab (wouldn't touch it at any other time) following EDF drinks? Weird.

Agreed that Jaws (adjudicator of longest tongue contest - which I believe you won LB ) has some nice moves.

Thanks for organising Weegee. And thanks for providing the usual escort-home service. Nice that Franster made it this time.

Really good to see everyone on such good form, especially surfbobby whom many of us hadn't seen since the Barry Road Race.

Georgia and R, the pair of you had me in stitches much of the time: tongue extensions indeed! And Geo, I LOVED your dress - gorgeous!

Just one minor complaint: lager and/or coke do not go with sambuca! No No No No No (yes: you know who you are!!!!).;-)

legalbeagle was very nice to meet you last night. As was Help-Ma-Boab.

And of course big thanks to Ladymuck for being a great co-host and helping me organize it.

Yes the new drink we

The longest tongue competition was great fun as was the moves being busted to the lovely 1920s music in the Lodge.

And the dancing continued in the EDT...to much amusement from the locals.

Was nice to visit 'Stab and Wine' for the very first time with LM.

Yes that new drink we pioneered last night called the Pambucca (Peroni mixed witb Zambucca)

Nice!!

My pictures from last nights shenanigans will be going up very soon.

Right Im off to continue my recovery from a stinking hangover!

Duuuuuudes!!! :)) Ash and I had a blast hahahaha we were trash bagged when we arrived as we had been at our work crimbo lunch since 1pm!!!! He got his wallet etc back, thank you all(and kelly too!) And I had the BIGGEST hangover on Saturday - I stank of sambucca as I seemed to have spilt more on me that what I drank.

I have a vague memory of Georgia and the chair - though I can't remember exactly what....hhehehehehe...

    • Its that time of year again, past Christmas day and late delayed cards are turning up. How late are your cards arriving ?  Last year I had one delivered 4 weeks late. Can that be beaten this year ?
    • Sadly, a lot of businesses didn't invite reviews on the EDF at that time due to a number of "negative nellies" that would take delight in posting unfavourable comments, often despite never being to the business in question.  No matter how good the place was, some posters would find fault that wasn't there "don't lile the colour of the bidet set in the private bathroom, avocado 😅" Can hardly blame businesses at the time for not wanting reviews on here, thankfully that has mostly changed now.
    • Was that the Hare Krishna place? I can't remember exactly where it was (or maybe still is) but it was somewhere around Oxford Street.
    • The "for sale" section on this forum lets people offer things for free or cheaply. And the "wanted" section let's people ask for things they want or need, for free or cheaply. There are also existing schemes like Freecycle, and also local  food banks. And there is (or was) a local scheme where you can bring things to be repaired free. I think it is/was based in Nunhead. Isn't that simpler than having a barter system? You might have something to give away, but the person who wants it might not have anything you want. Or have I misunderstood how it works? I can see that offering services free might not fit into existing schemes, but depending on what they were, what would happen if things went horribly wrong eg someone wrecked your house? Sorry if the above sounds very negative.
