Jah Lush
It's an easy mistake to make though it doesn't mean that there aren't little pudding men out there being creative.

Michael Palaeologus
Yes but Euclid's was a paean to a spanakopita. A fine Greek pie I will give you, but not the sort of thing to get you through a chilly London November evening. He was a distant cousin, on my mother's side. Jeremy
Not sure what your version of chilli pie is, but mine is a dish full of spicy chilli, covered in mash (potato, sweet potato, carrots), topped with cheese and broken nachos... then bung it in the oven for a while. (My wife refuses to try it though).
SeanMacGabhann
yep similar lines JeremyI tend to keep the topping much plainer - so just plain mash, with a butter topping to brown under a grill. But the filling is a spicy beef chili (so basically a cottage pie but with chili)
RosieH
I don't hold that potato-topped = pie. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't enjoy them, it's just that pie for me means pastry top and bottom.
Jeremy
In theory, yes. But what else do you call - for instance - shepherds pie, fish pie, lemon meringue pie, etc?
