Dear SimonM, since you posted The Bonzos Canyons Of Your Mind I have been transported back to my childhood whiling away the morning giggling like a naughty schoolgirl watching all the old Bonzos clips on YouTube. Big big thank you. "Yes, yes I kiss you perfumed hair, a sweet essence of giraffe.">:D

Anna, you're around the same age as me (well you're a couple of years younger, but we won't go on about that). I used to LOVE Button Moon!!! Fraggle Rock is best remembered for the theme tune!

Who could forget this hairy little chap (no sound on work PC, so not quite sure what you're getting here)?

Howards' Way was I think the Beeb's (feeble) riposte to "Dallasty" - even to including Kate O'Mara. But yes most of the acting was incredibly wooden...and no, I don't think I ever missed an episode either :))

Bergerac was great in its prime - gorgeous locations and that car! Jim had one or two really hot girlfriends too - but they truly flogged the cheval mort when they tried to relocate him as an ex-plod in Provence...

I used to love Jamie And His Magic Torch - great helterskelter. Music is pure 70s! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B_FQKHQDYk&mode=related&search=

Cockleshell Bay was a lunchtime favourite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMX47NId3a8

Out of the various US programmes I remember Diff'rent Strokes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmfH1RsxWEc

A couple of bbc clasics When the Boat Comes In & Who Pays the Ferryman, but I can't find any visuals for this but I've got the Theme tune which I still love to this day.

There also used to be a prog back in 1969 that was called 'The Gnomes of Dulwich' but sadly no tapes survived a 70's bbc clearout!

fonson - good shout on Hill St Blues - one of the first shows where I realised not everything had to be fluffy entertaining

on another nostalgic note re: Dallas and Dynasty - my parents were soooo particular about making sure us kids never saw them I was convinced after several years that if I ever did see one it would be so full of outrageous nudity I would be a very happy boy

How disappointed I was...

I used to love Huckleberry Finn!!! It went on for ever though.

Sean I looked at those clips, and Box of Delights was definitely the one I was thinking of!!! Funny how you just have a fragment of memory for something. Every xmas I hear the first noel, and I think about that programme with the kid and the magic box, now I will know what I'm remembering. Cheers!

"fragments" is just the right word Keef - stuff that hasn't entered one's mind for years and years and then boom - "ooh yeah!"

But the flipside (and I don't know if this has happened with the clips) is the "magic" gets lost when you actually revisit them - I loved a program called "Children of the Stone" when I were a lad... happy day!... but when I saw it again years later - oh dear

    • Pity you didn't quote what you are referring to, Mal. I didn't see the previous post, and my mind is boggling 😮
    • The Cherry Tree was absolutely excellent for a while when a youngish couple ran it and brought in a really good chef. It was them who renamed it The Cherry Tree. They were really turning it around. The chef did fantastic Scotch eggs, and one of the best roasts I've ever had. If memory serves the then owner,  for some reason known only to himself, took a dislike to them and what they were doing and sacked them all. And yes we weren't expecting a top class  meal last Christmas, and we left it too late to book anywhere else, but we weren't expecting it for a hundred pounds EACH to be quite as terrible as it was. Stupid us. Not sure why you are confused by my post, Jazzer? Did I misremember? Now it's got even more confusing because my posts have been merged and your confused emoji is shown at the bottom of the second one instead of the first 🤣
    • Hear hear. Very well said. Thank you and all the best for the year ahead
    • Tried months ago, to get folk together to do something, to say thank you. Been a member of the forum for years and if you had not stepped up, would not be an active  forum. Well administered as well. So from me to you, thanks for keeping it going..  Happy Christmas and blessings and good fortune in 2026 which I am told is The Year of The Horse….
