the mysterious case of the missing wheelie bin

most probably not a serious subject for discussion, but in the last 2 months two of my neighbours' wheelie bins have gone missing...(I promise I don't have them!). Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Occasionally our recycling bin will vanish, and once our wheelie bin has vanished.

No idea where they went, but they both randomly turned up a few days later!

I live at the top end of LL, so you'd think you'd nothing someone wandering around with a plastic box of used newspapers and pizza boxes!

Our recycling boxes and bag alaways take a wonder after they are emptied, and accasionally our bin, but the latter always seems to re-appear after aq few days!

I had two go a year or so back and my neighbours reckoned it was the slightly, ahem, eccentric old woman across the road who would "collect" them!

we had ours disappear annoyingly, so I ordered another one. A nice new, clean and shiny one arrived and then the old grotty one turned up again!!

Some people are using them for garden rubbish clearances. Dont worry were onto them!

my smelly old inherited with the house wheelie bin is clearly unappealing! Recycle boxes and bags are always going missing though!

This is obviously connected with that earlier thread on UFOs. Everyone knows little green men thrive on smelly, green plastic containers.

I live in a block of flats where we have 6 wheelies alongside the building - we "acquired" an extra green bin a few weeks ago - i.e. someone dumped it there presumably. Haven't a clue where it came from though (we're in Pellatt Rd.)

The binmen throw them into the back of the dump truck.... I've seen them lol.... seriously. Recycling obviously isn't one of their main concerns. I was going to say something to them but felt slightly intimidated.

In my world I'd prefer to think there was a wheelie bin militia but alas... it's just Southwark Council doing a sterling job at refuse collection LOL

I asked the binmen this morning what happened to my brown recycling wheelie, and they said they do quite often get tipped into the lorry 'by mistake'

Indeed there is and on Saturday evening at around 6pm there was a youngish man squatted between said bins, sleeping.

It was quite strange and slightly odd as my other half didn't notice it when we walked past.

Maybe one of those is mine - I had my bin taken from outside my house on Dunstans Road a few weeks ago. However I contacted the Council and they provided another one pretty swiftly.

If anyone needs a spare green wheelie bin, I'm faily sure that if one of the ones on Goodrich "disappeared" it wouldn't be missed. I think they are all empty and some sort of garden/pavement ornament. :-S

You can fashion a very usable wheelie bin from 3 sturdy pvc pipes and the inner band from an old flat cap Annasfield.
