sedgewick
Did you get one?I'm not getting one as the boss is a stinge.I work in a warehouse as a forklift truck driver, not a great job and the money is quite poor. We have had the biggest backlog ever and I have been working double shifts and weekends to help get the orders out. I would have expected a small Xmas box as a show of gratitude for all my extra effort.:( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14953-xmas-bonus/ Share on other sites
felt-tip
That's a poor show. It can't cost much to just do something small as a gesture. He'd probably get it back tenfold in morale and loyalty. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14953-xmas-bonus/#findComment-394671 Share on other sites
Narnia
Well at least you're not on your own. The Chairman of BAA Heathrow (I think) has decided not to take his bonus this year. Bonus for what I'd love to know. Some of these high flyers (huh) think a bonus is a right. Jah Lush
I should be so fecking lucky. I have never ever ever in my entire working life had a Xmas bonus. And if some banking scum come on here and start boasting about their six figure bonus I shall personally pay them a visit and pour acid on their brand new fucking Ferrari. katie1997
Nor me but if I was doing hard manual work for generally poor pay and working lots of weekends and double shifts to help clear a backlog, I think it would be a reasonable gesture to make. DJKillaQueen
Even just a bottle of wine or bubbly would be something. I've worked for companies where the profit margins are tight, but they've awlays managed a bottle of something. It's the gesture that matters. Even if poor old sedgewick did get paid his standard rate for all the overtime, it doesn't necessarily compensate for working antisocial hours, or working until you are exhausted. A token of appreciation wouldn't have been a bad idea.I think some people are confusing the traditional xmas bonus/gift/hamper with jobs which pay annual performance related bonuses. Not the same thing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14953-xmas-bonus/#findComment-394968 Share on other sites

ruffers
Jeremy - I guess I've just never worked in an environment where the 'traditional' xmas bonus has applied, I've been in mostly sales environments where the more you sold the more commission you got, no bonus for just doing your job as that's what basics are for. The other side of that coin is no overtime though. As you say the issue of performance related bonuses is a separate one to the OP.
