Hi Owen -

I wasn't there and only heard about this on the local social media sites.

However, what would be good is if there is some follow up questions, from reporters like yourself, to the Mayor Sadiq Khan and to the police re: what they are doing to VISIBLY counter knife crime in London.

This seems to have become more commonplace and needs to be addressed. How is it being addressed in terms of education and more police presence?

thanks,

m

Agreed. 100%.

I guess from a press perspective when there's already been 5 fatal stabbings in London this week it doesn rate a mention. Which is pretty shocking and upsetting really...

I just saw that, really worrying ? bringing us towards USA levels, e.g. nine homicides in New York this week.

So sad to hear this. Dulwich Park has always been a place that I felt safe in. There are always dog walkers, cyclists, mums with kids, etc. I truly hope that the person stabbed in the head recovers, and I truly hope that the victim from the ordeal seeks counselling. My thoughts and prayers are with the hero who tried to help.

This is so upsetting and scary esp' as it happened around 1pm with children around! I go jogging around the park often and now I feel hesitant to even go there!

Hope that evil scum is caught asap and my thoughts are with the victim who was stabbed.

I have heard that the Dulwich Park stabbing was committed with a screwdriver, rather than a knife. Has anyone else heard this?

In any case, the chosen weapon feels sort of beside the point, as there are plenty of options available other than knives. The issue is the crime itself, and the resulting violence. I am not familiar with the statistics, but I do wonder whether austerity leads to higher crime generally?

One of the shops this guy used the stolen card was Hardings in Cheltenham Rd, at the top of Peckham Rye on the (eastern) south Nunhead side. Police took prints there on Thu night. Maybe - doubtless not being a mastermind - the attacker lives further towards Brockley.

Like many others I guess, I'm hanging on to see if the victim - Italian, it is said - recovers, and how injured he is.

The numerous London stabbings was mentioned on BBC news last week.

Some good points are made on this thread:

Although it seems (and of course is) worrying, the situation is not much different than it has always been in London.

We hear about it more now because of forums like this, and other media.

we in east dulwich must get together and put pressure on the local police to do something about the Knife crime and the Muggings that are taking place daily .the police seems to be sleeping god forbid if a police man is attacked they seem to find the person very quickly ???????? please get organised and lets do something .put pressure on local politicians too.what ever i can do i will.

This attack was shocking. Whilst the details in the public domain are still unclear, many of us would try to help a woman being attacked or robbed. But you wouldn't expect someone to try and kill you for it. That someone was prepared to attempt murder to get away with a small amount of cash and perhaps a phone is sickening.

Sending positive wishes to all involved for their recovery.

I generally don't like inviting strangers into my home for any reason really but when you have a repair you have no choice. Andy is a kind, very pleasant  decent guy. But most of all he's, trustworthy, very knowledgeable and extremely conscientious about his work! He wants to solve the problem for you and keep the customer happy. He was very kind to work around my schedule to sort my repairs. I live alone and I'm very comfortable in his company. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. He's what you want in a tradesman. Someone who's decentand really talented. I'm so glad I crossed paths with him. Andy goes the extra mile to resolve your issue. Don't think twice, just book him!! 07983 688451
    • I walked by Honest Burger around lunchtime today and they had just opened. They haven’t publicly promoted the opening yet because they were focusing on the building work, but the guy I spoke to was really friendly.  They’re giving away free lemonade as an opening promotion and mentioned that residents should download their app because they can get a free meal after buying a certain number of meals.  Sounds like they also do takeaway as well. I told him that Honest had been trending on the EDF, so I would post about today’s opening.
