OK, so there's a new kid on the block, BUT lets be honest the East Dulwich Forum is the original, best and has most activity on a day to day basis in comparison to any other local forum.

Admin - you do a great job and thanks for maintaining and keeping this forum running so successfully, which is at the centre of the local community.

Thank you, it is appreciated. The other one has been set up by a cleaning company (unhappy at not being able to advertise on here), who then posted various posts pretending to be different people saying how great the new site is. I won't link to it as it's rubbish.

Are you sure it's been set up by a cleaning company and not by those notorious ex ED pub owners of "crushed and devalued" fame?

Hello,

I'm the creator of "the dulwich forum.com" (banned link on this site so here is the redirect- removed) This website was created because the Admin of the East Dulwich Forum deleted my 5,000+ viewed post of my business for writing on the main section about Admin contacting me to sponsor the forum again as i did over the Christmas period when my business first started.

Admin i think that's slightly rude to say that it is rubbish as it has more features like follow, upload videos, no image restrictions, works on mobile devices and has light moderation...

As a business woman i was forced to then create my own platform as the main one had rejected me, but not only that it was created for the local community to use as another platform.

Yes i agree that the East Dulwich Forum is a fantastic centre of the community and i do not doubt that. I am not trying to discredit it at all.

We have had lovely feedback from the Beckenham forum. Its a shame the East Dulwich Forum cannot support this local hub one bit.

No, the new kid on the block is difficult to navigate around, does not seem to be joined up and IMO is a rubbish site, I won't be using it for one.

ps Dulwich does not need another site, it has two already, East and West. And what was the point of creating a Dulwich site, oh, I'm taking my ball with me because I can't play with you. REALLY.

I dread to think what the first version of this sentence was. I still can't make much sense of it after you have had three more goes.

Anyway, enough of accusing Admin here of being rude. You're the one cheekily seeking free publicity for a directly competing service. You wouldn't hand out Peckhamplex flyers in the Picturehouse lobby, would you? Now go and find some common courtesy, and look up how to use full stops and commas while you're at it.

Crack on Admin, the site is still going strong for a reason.

    • By ‘adopting’ you would still have to pay for the dog.  Do you have children?  Have you ever had a dog before?  Looked after anyone’s dog?  Work away from home?  Are there any breeds you are particularly interested in?    I would suggest going to Discover Dogs which is part of Crufts but that won’t be until next year now. That way you can meet many different breeds and their owners.  They used to have a standalone DD at the Excel Centre in November but I don’t think it exists anymore. You could also go to different dog shows to see different breeds. They are held throughout the year.  if you get certain breeds like a shitzu or poodle then you’d have to factor in grooming costs if you can’t do it yourself.  You can always keep them in a very short clip.  Many dogs shed a lot including short haired dogs like pugs.  Golden retrievers are also notorious for shedding.  I personally would never get a brachy dog like a pug, French bulldog or English bulldog ever.    If you get a well bred dog from a breeder and can meet the parents then you would get an idea of what the dog will turn out like.  Sometimes breeders have dogs returned to them for various reasons including illness of the owner.  You could look for such a dog.  It’s important that all dogs are socialised correctly during their first year as well as being exposed to outside influences. If this doesn’t take place then the dog has been done a disservice.  But, there’s no substitute to good breeding in my opinion or if you are getting an older dog perhaps you could foster first to get to know them.  You could end up with a dog who’d been badly treated in a previous home and that would take a lot of fixing.   If you are interested in sight hounds, @galgosdelsol are a rescue in Spain run by an English woman (they are on Instagram and have a website) who rehomes Galgos, Spanish dogs similar to greyhounds.  They are often dumped by Spanish hunters if they won’t hunt and retrieve.  They are thoroughly assessed and trained before being rehomed. A breeder of my favourite breed in York works with a Romanian rescue and she fosters a few dogs a year in order to rehome them in the UK.  She’s even kept a few herself.
    • Agree.  They also send emails out saying when they’ve received it and on day of delivery say what time in a three hour gap to expect it.
    • I have been doing a lot of posts and liking a lot - to see if we are rate limited. It appears we are to some extent, with "likes". How do people manage to get into the mid 20,000's of posts on here? That is some commitment.
