I have to say that there are loads of places I still want to see in the UK... I've never been up to Scotland, and I really want to go to the lakes. Cornwall is my favourite part of the country, absolutely beautiful coast!

That said, when you get summers like the one we just sort of had, you understand why people want to get overseas!

Exactly. Don't go to Scotland or the Lake District unless you want to be rained on. A lot.

So why do you live here Carlos? You don't have to like the English to live here but if that's how you feel why advertise it?

Obviously the "Carlos" was a joke. It's actually Charlie. I live in London becaus I like it. I like East Dulwich too. It's just that I don't like the rest of the country, or most of the people that live in it. I am a Brit by the way. Just not a very tolerant one.

Cannaries are great as long as you rent up in the hills and hire a car. The playas are full of "los frey bentos" sunning their all day full english breakfast beer bellies. Most of the costal resorts are awful, a complete contrast with the interior. Tenerife and Gran Can have glorious forest and mountains to explore. The winter weather is good in Tenerife, but be warned, don't stay on the north coast unless you love cold fog! Cheap petrol and tax free shopping on electricals and cameras.

Madeira is very small, twee and full of old golfing farts and has an excessive number of (single lane) road tunnels. Nice drives up in the mountains but beware of local drivers who are utterly leathal. There are no beaches at all, just wild breakers and razor sharp rocks The upside is that there is great food to be had in old funchal. I also think it may be the hub of the world bobble-hat industry! Winter sun no where near as good as Canaries

Hi charlie i,m sending this mail from madeira i think it,s great all your folks like the cannaries keeps this place clean quite and well behaved.I,m an intolarant B@$*@RD so you might just like it here, stay in funchal city hotel do carmo or the windsor both have rooftop pools and you can strole in to the city to eat at night (NO CRIME NO MUGGINGS)not the same as the cannaries.GO FOR IT MATE!!! Im typing this having lived here olmost the last year but got to go to UK tomorow till new year to get some ????? then back for most of next year.P.S. • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
