char1ie
I would holiday in the UK but I don't like the English. Or the weather. Madeira I heard today has no beaches and is populated by old biddies. So it's the Canarias para mi.Gracias.Carlos. Keef
I have to say that there are loads of places I still want to see in the UK... I've never been up to Scotland, and I really want to go to the lakes. Cornwall is my favourite part of the country, absolutely beautiful coast! That said, when you get summers like the one we just sort of had, you understand why people want to get overseas! Don't go to Scotland or the Lake District unless you want to be rained on. A lot. You don't have to like the English to live here but if that's how you feel why advertise it? char1ie
Obviously the "Carlos" was a joke. It's actually Charlie. I live in London becaus I like it. I like East Dulwich too. It's just that I don't like the rest of the country, or most of the people that live in it. I am a Brit by the way. Just not a very tolerant one.Charlie Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1550-canaries-or-madeira/page/2/#findComment-43588 Share on other sites
Asset
Camping in north west Scotland this August, I was lying on the beach in the sun whilst London was being rained on. uberdude
Cannaries are great as long as you rent up in the hills and hire a car. The playas are full of "los frey bentos" sunning their all day full english breakfast beer bellies. Most of the costal resorts are awful, a complete contrast with the interior. Tenerife and Gran Can have glorious forest and mountains to explore. The winter weather is good in Tenerife, but be warned, don't stay on the north coast unless you love cold fog! Cheap petrol and tax free shopping on electricals and cameras.Madeira is very small, twee and full of old golfing farts and has an excessive number of (single lane) road tunnels. Nice drives up in the mountains but beware of local drivers who are utterly leathal. There are no beaches at all, just wild breakers and razor sharp rocks The upside is that there is great food to be had in old funchal. I also think it may be the hub of the world bobble-hat industry! Winter sun no where near as good as Canaries Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1550-canaries-or-madeira/page/2/#findComment-44382 Share on other sites
