Le Chardon sold

As KK surmises, I did not make a special trip to Walthamstow to eat at Manzes.


Fox, you appear to be contradicting yourself by now suddenly finding that other people eat pie and mash.


And of course I did not think you were referring to me, nor have I taken anything personally, how ridiculous.


I was, I thought, pointing out flaws in your and Louisa's weird views by using myself as an example. Who else would I use?


But logic does not seem to come easily to either Louisa or yourself, so I don't know why I bother :)

With respect Sue, I don't think foxy is contradicting himself one bit. He's simply suggesting that you can eat food from wherever you like, but some people choose to be seen eating in certain places because they charge more, even though the food is probably of the same quality at a cheaper place. And to be fair, your argument makes no sense. You rarely tell us all when you'll be eating pie and mash, yet you'll go out of your way to tell everyone you went to MeatLiqour*. Shoot me down if you so wish, but there's a lot of double standards going on here.

I have never set foot in the place. It looks Nice.. Does not seem too expensive...

But it sells Foie Gras..


.. and I have expressed my views on Foie Gras many a time over the years..


It prevents me using several outlets in East Dulwich and indeed elsewhere.


Principals have to be adhered too.


Lets see what the new place will be doing.

I never went to Le Chardon, I always found it a bit intimidating. However the decor looked amazing.


I believe that as residence we should get s say on what type of establishment gets a foot hold on lordship lane. Could you imagine a McDonalds there? or KFC God forbid.

Sorry admin may I also briefly go off topic to remind Sue of a thread in which we discussed people sat in the window seats at said eatery and the whole 'look at me' thing (which I don't wish to go back into), and I'm sure you said you and Mr Sue were invited to some special pre opening event thing? If I am wrong then I apologise. Either way, you went into great detail about meatliqour and yet we only recently discovered you visited a pie and mash shop in Walthamstow :)

We neither went nor were invited to any special event at MeatLiquor, Nor did we go nor were we invited to the opening.


Maybe check the thread in question before posting false information twice and going off topic again.


And why would I mention on here previously a place in Walthamstow I went to years ago? It was only relevant because of the raising of pie and mash on this thread.


Whereas when I posted about MeatLiquor, it had just opened locally.

I have only replied to your post because you are persisting in posting ridiculous and wrong things about me.

I did remember you saying you had been there with your other half, hence why I was confused and I apologise unreservedly Sue for getting my facts wrong.


I am doing nothing deliberately, and I'd rather not be accused of winding people up, I was actually trying to have a serious adult debate about restaurant diversity in East Dulwich and London in general. But once again, my points are lost through a sea of off-topic nonsense.

Hello East Dulwich! I'm Adam, one of the owners of Tart, and yes we are indeed taking over Le Chardon from Robert. My partner and I have eaten at the restaurant a few times over the last few years but never did we think that we'd have the opportunity to eventually own such a beautiful space. We're excited to open our second shop on Lordship Lane and look forward to inviting you all in to try our fare. Before we get to that stage, I wanted to share our thoughts on a few points you've raised:


1) The interior: as mentioned to Yvonne when she emailed me, our plans for the restaurant are centred on respecting the history and immense character of the space. Therefore, while we shall be updating/fixing the areas that need it (e.g. the kitchen, painted-closed windows and worn flooring), we'll also be honouring and augmenting the historic character of the shop.


2) Our menu: at Tart our aim is to make the best savoury tarts in the business. Not quite a quiche and not a pie, our tarts are packed full of great ingredients and held together with the minimum of custard needed to set them. Our top seller is the chorizo, roast red pepper, goats cheese, tomato and pesto tart. My favourite's always been the smoked haddock, mature cheddar, spinach, caramelised onion and coarse-grain mustard tart. We also have a full brunch menu and bake our own brownies, cakes and cookies. 3) Pricing: you can take away that chorizo tart for ?4.95 or avail of our tart and salad deal for ?6.50, which is very popular in Clapham. Pots of salad range from ?3 to ?5. Our sit-in prices are little higher due to VAT. Hopefully you'll find our menu represents decent value for money.
