Did anyone else see a 20-something man with a bike on ground acting oddly amongst the bushes on the running track around outside of Dulwich Park 8.45-9.30? I ran past him three times in that time, twice doing same thing. I just thought he was a bit of a pervert until I saw the report about the attack in Avery Hill Park. There were loads of people around with the Park Run going on too.

Haha, was totally thinking the same thing lol - hadn't crossed my mind he was perverted, sounds like good old fashioned cruising to me, how old school. Best just ignored, chances are if you're not interested he won't be either.

Sorry, I don't understand some of these comments - a man has been exposing himself (and reading between the lines a lot more than just exposing himself) in broad daylight, at a time when the park will be full of families etc, to at least two lone females and this should just be ignored or laughed off as some sort of "old school" behaviour? Seriously?
Thats the problem with this site pepole make up things who said that he was exposing himself and then was called a pervert for doing what does say anything about showing any part of his body,so grow up and stop saying things that are not facts...com

I'll answer you despite the fact that anyone who says "grow up" and "facts...com" doesn't really deserve a reply. muppet19 said the man was behaving oddly and later clarified this as "lewd stuff." OK, she didn't actually use the words exposing himself. Big deal. Still don't think there's anything amusing about it.

ETA What is mildly amusing, when you think about it, is that you're getting het up about the fact that a person who was behaving in enough of a sexually inappropriate manner in the park for the OP to call the police might be slandered by me making a (perfectly justifiable) assumption as to what that behaviour was. Interesting sense of priorities.

Then below that said "Lewd Behaviour" - which is actually a definition of illegal sexual behaviour.

And we did take it as a joke back in time - the local flasher was a running joke amongst the schoolgirls at my school - but seen as progressive behaviour towards worse these days.

Brilliant! You've copied the earlier pun on my name!.....you must go down a storm in your local pub or WI meetings?

    • I'm guessing they're busy. I found out just now that the SNT has tracked down the kids who attacked my dog, had strong words with their parents, and the gang has now broken up. I got a lot of detail, which I won't go into here, but it sounds as if they were also quite compassionate towards some of the kids, who came from less than optimal backgrounds, shall we say.  I know that those kids had nothing to do with the attack of the man in August and that they are also aware of the fireworks problem. Sounds like good community policing.
    • I'd rather go to actual local Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings and see the whites of their eyes.  Ours in Peckham Rye Park ward (maps of areas the ward covers are on the police website; no idea about the new one!) used to be very well attended, but sadly now not so.  The local police of the SNT seem to change far too regularly so they never have a chance to really know the area and the people.  And the last meeting, held at the Tenants Hall of Brenchley Gardens (so right on the edge of the geographical area), was held with one day's notice.  Not good.
    • Friends of Peckham Rye Park sent emails to its members (do join if you can; it's useful) saying a few nights ago a fire was started on the SE22 side of the park by kids with fireworks.  Horrific.
