Nero yes the businesses are trying to restrict giving out bags, that is why we ask, do you need a bag?We are looking at biodegradable bags at the moment for the traders on Lordship lane and surrounding Dulwich,East Dulwich shops.

All council tax paying households in East Dulwich, college ward and dulwich village will be entitled to 2 bags per household.

However because some parts of college ward and Dulwich village do cover a large area we can only provide so many households.

great news that the community council is able to back this campaign. just the kind of thing they were created for.

there was a piece about this in the South London Press on Friday

there's no on-line version but you can see a very similar photo of Monica and Marilyn (and me, sorry!) here

I heard Monica, Marilyn and Richard on BBC London Live this morning - well done guys!

It must be really hard to try and change some people's attitude (what about that guy interviewed who said life in London was stressful enough without having bags and this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back!??)

It could be argued (and people have) that there are bigger issues in the world, even in the recycling world*, but you have to take one step at a time and this is a great move which will get people thinking about their habits

*(I wonder if at the miracle of water into wine, people at the wedding said to Jesus, "yeah that's all very well Anglo-Saxon dude but it doesn't solve world hunger does it?")

Thank you sean.BBC radio london picked up the story from the south london press.

Its great Eastdulwich snub are given the chance to show london we can help reduce our carbon foot print.

The guy was right about enough stresses without remembering yo bring a bag, however we know the most important message is that shop keepers independant and chains should always ask " do you need a bag"

But the two wrongs could at least be of equal value before we get too judgey    paying an estate agent to deal with all of the admin on my to have the estate agent not point out all of the admin  vs Deliberately hacking into an MPs email. • Now who might that be?
    • Harvey and Wheeler in Dulwich Village? Only one I know… How can they offer to apply and never did? Surely; whether they are managing the property or not and with tech been so advanced I would have thought they would have been a couple of e mails sent as a reminder or, is it the Landlord’s responsibility to apply… Rental Law/ Bill has just come  into force  - can’t remember if it was this week or last and have been to busy to read.. However, will as assume it is not individual councils but all councils. Came up on Which on line.. Good point Jen Jen Jen - sure some knowledgable person on here can throw more light than I.
    • Does this mean then that anybody who rents out their home in East Dulwich needs one of these licenses? And does everyone of these landlords have one?
