I think you'd be fishing in the wrong pond. A menswear shop could do well but only if it sells branded clothes.

Have a look at the menswear in ED on Northcross Road. That sort of thing but more of it I think..

No chains ideally. But a good bakery, yes. And a big independent bookshop! One more good bar/restaurant would be nice too... it's mainly pubs and curries now, and the overpriced Chardon. I wouldn't mind a big tapas bar (or Basque pintxos or something similar) on the main stretch of LL (I read there is a tapas bar somewhere but it doesn't seem great - has anyone been there?)

Justback on cookware, next time you do a booze cruise to France, get stuff there, it's way way way cheaper! I love crepes, and got my trusty crepe pan there, as well as several other pans that have outlasted loads of cheap tat in our kitchen!

A shop that sells chains? I know we already have Callow Locksmiths but I think their variety is sadly limited. We could have chains of many colours, styles, weaves and sizes.

The cookshop sells some really nice wine glasses and they are not too expensive- and whether it's poncey of me or not, I think wine tastes a lot nicer from a good glass than it does from a tacky one.

Yes, a bike shop. I assume you mean motorbike shop, right? :) I went up Marylebone High Street the other day and realise what Lordship Lane DESPARATELY needs is a White Company shop, it would fit right in. And something like a poncy "Stitches and Daughters" type shop. I totally agree with the poster above who said about cheap kitchen items not lasting long. Definitely buy expensive well made classic stuff from the likes of Peter Jones and it will last a lifetime, the same can be said of good clothes. Mine, anyway..... I LOATHE shopping! Alan Dale mentioned Boots. Yes I quite like Boots certainly over Superdrug but the some of the staff in the Peckham branches of both could not BE ruder IMHO. And freecycle is wonderful - I just got a fax machine off it for free and gave away lots too. Hell, what with that and ebay do we really need shops at all?

Oh wait, yeah - when the post strikes happen!
