So, the first Friday of November is 2nd of November which is the start of the Bonfire night weekend.

Given this and the fact that the last EDF drink was only a week ago, the self appointed EDF Social Committee suggest that we have the next gathering on Friday 9 November.

Venue - The Forest Hill Tavern

I don't think you should repeat the Gowlett when there are other places that haven't been done (FHT), and others that were done before it... Obviously Mag hosted the party, so that's out.

I would suggest EDT, as it was an early one, not that well attended, and a decent venue... That or The Drum, as we could just take over the whole place and have an EDF party.

Or the CPT... ;-)

I agree with Keef we shouldn't repeat venues so quickly

I like the idea of The Drum (but hasn't that also been a venue)

Sean H-L is the one who prompted this discussion AND lives near the FHT AND is a venue we haven't done....

* coughs * Omrith is also next door and could be an early stomach-liner

Me too. Haven't been in the FHT for more than 20 years and haven't been in since the refit and feel we should give it a go. The Drum or CPT is an excellent idea for the Xmas party but the CPT would just swing it for me as it's bigger.

The 10th is better for me cos I am drafted onto lates over the Halloween/Bonfire period... for my sins. Looking forward to meeting you all over again & I promise to be more socialable this time, I was having a bit of a shy moment last time.

See some of you at CPT for the rugby tomorrow ~ Cheers GG

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
