Hi everyone, Sorry I could not stay but thanks for the warm welcome from those of you at the beginning when I was there. You will be pleased to know we have a replacement lead actor for our play and so next week sometime I shall post the poster and links to the website. Incidentally, can someone teach me how to type code so that I write the words COME SEE MY PLAY and then when you scroll over it, it's a link? Ta.

Good news PeckhamRose - we were concerned at your reversal in fortune and I am sure that there will be an EDF posse at your Play.

Tonight, after a diverting wind-band concert in the Great Hall of Dulwich College, I went back to the FHT for a beer and to say thanks. All was well, although the bar manager did confess to have been frightened by CWALD!! Made me laugh.

Then went next door to the Omrith for a curry, which was very nice indeed.

Haha, I swear it was his arse I patted, not his crown jewels!

The arnie line is true tho.

He was lovin all the attention he was getting from me and Georgia!

He is cute, and I probably would, if I hadn't taken a vow of chastity about 3 weeks ago and promised myself to The Lord!

Thanks to Michael for arranging the food. Was it the winning smile, the fluttering eyelids, or did you have to do something else?

Great to meet up with all - and lovely to meet first-timers, BM, LL and PeckhamRose (very glad to hear it's worked out with your play) Your short cameo was one of the most dramatic, and tragic, little scenes we have had.

Oh dear really? I felt terribly embarrassed! I was SO looking forward to meeting everyone and just sit there quietly with lots of beer and enjoy the faces behind the names on here. Sounds like you all got quite a thang going....!
Just to say what a lovely time I had on Friday - particularly great meeting those I haven't met before - Keef; Michael P; Alley Cat; Barry Marshall; Another Paul; AnnaJ; and the adorable Mockney Piers (cue Bellenden Belle being particularly dizzy and asking what his real name was!) Not to mention the legend that is CWALD - I shall never look at dog owners in the same light again! And lovely seeing all the regulars too - Georgia, Bagpuss; Sean; CitizenEd, to name but a few. East Dulwich is wonderful ... and you all are too. A big hug and ahhhhh all round x

The forum drink-ups are a larf and I had a very jolly time. Anyone who hasn't been should take the plunge cos even if you come alone, you don't stay alone for long.

I just remembered I scared the crap out of LozzyLoz too! Sorry dude! (Not in the same was as with sexy Ray of the FHT!)

Sorry, guys, only got round to posting this Monday morning (lack of broadbandage at home at mo ...)

Lovely to meet everyone: Sean, Mockney, CWALD, Keef/Slosh, Breandan, Michael Palaeologous, BB, CitizenED, Mark (again), Jah Lush and everyone else!

I felt rotten on Saturday, but that's only because I had a good night on Friday. What time did we leave the pub in the taxi? Was there a lock-in? I'd never actually been to the FHT before. Seeing as it's only, er, round the corner from my flat I may have to venture back out there again.

Now, the real test is if I can still match the faces to the names/psedonyms next time...

It was a laugh indeed and lovely to meet so many friendly people. Well worth the sore head.

So who's going to be Santa next time? Sean?

It seems like I'll be doing some music for the christmas party but is there anyone else who'd like to share the DJing? A whole evening playing whilst boozing might get me all of a muddle.

Just another note to add to say what a great time I had Friday night! Lovely to meet some new faces (hello Bellenden Belle/Anna J / Citizen ED / Barry Marshall) and all those I already know!

Great venue too & what lovely friendly staff they were!

Journey home was a tad wobbly though holding up an a rather tipsy Onion - I blame that SeanMcG for suggesting the whisky!Already looking forward to the Christmas bash! A x

Oh God how I suffered the next day. I was already hammered by the time I turned up having started off on the juice at three in the afternoon. Last time I was in there I was about 19 and very likely in a similar state but it was good to go back and see how much it has improved since my last visit and of course it's always good fun on a Forum night out. I could still taste the peat from the whisky 24 hours later. Thank heaven for the lovely CWALD who, spotting that I was beginning to get a serious wobbly on very kindly came to my rescue and took me home in a taxi. Marvellous girl.

As a nervous first timer, I'd just like to say thank you everyone for being so nice!

I had a lovely time and was only sorry not to be able to stay longer, but when it came to being up and out at 7am on Saturday for work, I was glad I left when I did.

With my forum-fear conquered I was looking forward to the Christmas bash, but I'm working that night 'til midnight (booo) so I'll see you all in January.

    • London doesn’t have a lot of Argentinian places specialising in empanadas, which suggests demand isn’t that great. There are many neighbourhoods with none at all or even nearby.  So for a mini-chain like Chango (several branches in SW London) to open here where there’s already a well established family run place doing the same feels a bit off.  I’ll be giving Chacarero my ongoing custom.
    • This is so helpful, everyone, thank you. @green bean Yes we have just (as of yesterday) installed the same external blinds you mention! We already had blackout blinds and we now have the external awnings too. Of course that will guarantee the end of the summer sunshine but I can see that they're going to be helpful as they let the light through but not the glare of the sun - I'm fed up of working in darkness with both the blackout blinds closed on sunny days. We'll see how we go with those for a bit but I reckon we'll get a couple of quotes from the other recommendations in case we end up going the whole hog. @penfold Love the idea of getting solar+batteries to offset the electricity usage so will look into that.  Thanks, all.
    • Yes Sally, I've emailed him several times since Xmas. I don't contact Councillors frequently but when I've done so over the years, I've found them generally engaged and responsive. It's unprecedented to just be ignored and, regardless of the query I'm raising, that's worrying from the point of view of  our local democratic voice. Its a Councillors role to represent local people! A different thread on here made reference to a lack of response from one of our ward councillors and, since there are only two, I'm guessing it's the same one. I'm following up my own concern separately but I'm asking on here about whether others have had the same problem. I'd like to think it's a one-off but, increasingly, I suspect it's not. Hope that gives a bit more context!
