As this thread was started to discuss the best chain-coffee, I go for Nero's out of the large chains. However, for the fact that it's cheaper and better than the caff at work's filter coffee, and the other alternative is Starf**ks, Pret's filtered is well priced at 99p.

@edealer

So wine out of a tumbler is a nono but coffee from paper cup is ok? ;-)

But yeah coffee at Nero compared to other chains is far superior. Eat does ok tho. Pret coffee is undrinkable but their pastries are better than the other coffee chains.

Im with Nero every time. I do agree with Alan Medic, however nice little independent coffee houses dont usually sell a bucket of coffee that has you gibbering & shaking nicely by the time you get to the bottom. A couple of slurps out of a coffee cup with a fat rim and a so wide you could get your head in that is cold before youve got to your table isnt for me.

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.
    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
