Narnia
.......for advice. My other half has heard of this affliction and is deeply concerned that one day this may happen to me. Naturally enough I've tried to reassure her that it only happens to other people and indeed as I've only ever read about it myself it may well be a myth. However if any of you can throw some light on this subject it would be appreciated.....just in case! ChavWivaLawDegree
I never beleived that I snored, until my ex-husband recorded me snoring very loudly, with his voice talking over the top of it to prove it wasn't just him making funny noises. I was horrified! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1759-snorers-wanted/#findComment-49352 Share on other sites
Peckhamgatecrasher
There is something called sleep apneoia (sic) which can cause breathing/heart stopping problems during the night and can be quite serious. If you are not already a heavy snorer, I think you can probably not worry about it. Barry Rhode
Go to your doctor and say that it's affecting the quality of your lifeHe or she should refer you to a ear, nose, throat dept at your local hospital for further checksThat's what I didIn the end I cut back on the booze and the fags and the snoring went away mostlyNow when I do snore Ms Crepe gives me a gentle poke and I roll over onto my front and that stops me snoring againPeople usually snore because the back of their throat gets relaxed and vibrates at each breathSo either sleep on your front (tennis ball sown into the back of a T shirt works but is extreme) or quit the booze... nooooooooooooo!Best of luck, Declan Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1759-snorers-wanted/#findComment-49766 Share on other sites
Michael Palaeologus
Buy ear-plugs - foam ones from Boots. Seriously - I go on hols with a mate whose snoring is gruesome, I use the earplugs and have no problems. He always forgets to buy some and so is kept awake by my snoring. Brendan
We looked after a friend?s 10 week old pug last night. Lovely little thing but he didn?t half snore during the night. Get yourself a pug and then blame it on the dog. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1759-snorers-wanted/#findComment-49844 Share on other sites
blinder999
My five year old son suffered from sleep apnoea - it was quite distressing. Eventually he had his tonsils and adenoids removed (at the lovely Evelina Children's hospital), and all has been well since. McSporran
There are also some over-the-counter things that you can buy at the chemist which can cut it down - i have some spray which you use on the back of your throat, and some sweet-like things (like the really thin minty things which were trendy a couple of years ago) which you also put on the back of your throat which 'melt'. I think both these things keep your throat more open and cut down snoring. They seem to work okay, but I only ever use them after a night out (so, errm, rarely) when I know I'll be snoring.I did some research a couple of years ago and there are lots of things you can do, but it seems that alcohol, health, and weight play the biggest part!http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4456687.stmSee attached file too.
